Has the IRS Ever Audited You?

All this tax stuff this week has really got me wondering how often the IRS audits people in our business, and do you think they go after us more because of what we do? My first year they did that too me, and it really freaked me out. I was just wondering if they do that to everyone?

I have never been audited and I have been doing this for about 10 years. You just need to make sure you are doing everything right and keep good records incase you are audited. Also make sure you your tax guy knows what he is doing. I have seen some tax guys do some stupid stuff and their clients get audited over and over. I used to do my own taxes but now I have my accountant do my books and H&R Block do my taxes. I think the H&R Block for business is the best.

Do you tell them you do porn? I was thinking that is why I got audited the first year, after that I have been kind of vague and they have not bother me since, maybe it was just a fluke but I was so scared the first year. I really don’t think I could sleep for like 3 days :uhoh:

I have never told them. I usually put a more vague description like internet design and marketing or something like that. If they wanted to find out exactly what I did I am sure they could very easily.

Ya I just put “webmaster” and if they ask I tell them I design and manage web sites “it is true I guess” I really don’t know what I was thinking the first year telling them I made adult sites, I guess I was just asking for it. :frown:

BTW man your program is doing ok for me, I think I just need to adjust some stuff, its seems some ads work better than others, and I need to mix it up with another program that converts better with the other type of ads. But I think it should give steady sales for awhile anyway

Glad to hear you are doing well with our program. I have noticed a big difference with different banners and ads. You really have to play with them and see what does good and what doesn't. Some software to keep track of click throughs for certain banners etc helps alot. I have also noticed that text below the banners helps with click throughs. We just added a bunch of new banners so be sure to check them out. If you need anything don't hesitate to contact me.

    Thanks,

NP thax man, I really create allot of my own advertisements, and only use banners on directories that are very restrictive. For me your video previews are what’s working the best, so I think I will promote more of them. My pic previews are not working as well so I am going to change them to another program, but will increases traffic over all to you. Do you own the site man or do you work for them?

I wonder who the guy is that gets audited every year WTF :hmmph: I am just glad that is not me, I really don’t think I could handle that. I bet he tells them he/she dose porn flat out, does every one tell them they are just a “webmaster/designer” or do people tell them they do porn, and they are still cool with you?

do you really find H&R Block for business better than going to a tax man? Block startled me by quoting us literally double what we pay our guy, and he's a tax specialist and also a tax attorney.

Well I haven't had many good experiences with the tax man. From my experience they are slow, rush things and do things wrong. My boyfriends Mom did my taxes for a couple years and did a good job but then they got more complicated and then I went to H&R Block. They did pretty good but then this year I went to H&R Block for business and even though it was more expensive I felt like things were done correctly and in a timely manner plus they were very knowledgeable with all the laws. I hope that helps

I have been audited and I have to say it was actually a good experience. I knew that there was nothing wrong with my return, and after all the work they did the IRS wanted an extra $50. All that time and effort and all they could come up with was $50! I laughed as I wrote that check. They have left me alone ever since. I don't mind the audit since I have nothing to hide. Bring it on, IRS!

I use a tax preparer right now. I think it is best to use a preparer with skills to match your needs--not more or less--a single person with only W-2 income should prepare online without help, a small business needs a tax preparer, and a big business needs CPA's. Tax lawyers really aren't necessary for tax preparation--that is kind of like having a talented artist paint your house or a heart surgeon give you a physical. Usually a waste of money. Fuckin' lawyers anyway

I just don’t see how it couldn’t really stress you out, I could feel my hart in my throat when I got that letter that said “Audit” I really had nothing to hide, but it did made me puke with in less than an hour. :ill: I think that is about most of our biggest nightmare, other than the cops grabbing us in the middle of the night or something. :mental:
