German porn webmaster and his family thrown in jail in Thailand

This guy obviously wasn't very bright to run a porn webcam operation from his home in Pattaya. Still, throwing him and his family in a Thai prison is quite harsh...

We joined Police Lieutenant General Tawonsak, Deputy Commander of the Office of the Inspector-General and his team as they conducted a raid on house number 844/37 at the Holiday Paradise Village inside Soi 17, South Pattaya. Acting on a search warrant, they entered the house owned by Mr. Cornilious Gerd aged 42 from Germany. He was accused of running a pornographic internet webcam site from the house which employed Thai women. Inside the house Police seized nine computers, two laptop computers, 8 webcams and a selection of sex toys. Also in the house at the time were four Thai women, thought to be employed as webcam hostesses. They were arrested along with Mr. Gerd, his wife and family. Back at Pattaya Police Station, Mr Gerd denied allegations of running the webcam business and claimed that his only business interest was a local car rental company. Despite this, he has been charged with a variety of offences relating to pornography and is now behind bars awaiting his court appearance. Senior Officers at Pattaya Police Station are now under the spotlight as questions are sure to be asked as to why this case was not dealt with by Pattaya Police and needed a high ranking Police Officer from Bangkok to make the arrest.

I feel bad for the guy - its awful, but I'm just a webmaster who doesnt run a paysite myself or shoot content, and I know that you cant shoot anything in Thailand or most of Asia for that matter.

I think everything shot in Thailand is smuggled out of the country. Maybe the guy was paying off a local official who got pissed and ratted him out. Either way, tough break.

My question is why did they arrest his family? Were they helping him make the things or run his site? If they were just there I don't see what charges they can bring against them.

Different country, different laws. I have been told that *filming porn* is illegal in Thailand. And places like Singapore are well known for being extremeley conservative on moral codes. They all don't go to Las Vegas for the lovely desert heat, ya know.

The President of Thailand just was forced to step down due to a recall election. Perhaps there's a political motive here so that someone can get reelected.

I can feel with him, that's realy bad. But there are always risks to do such a business in a foreign countries. I, for my self was 8 month in prison in Prague, CZ. I traveld there for about 2 years, every month to take pictures and video. So, I was a know people by the authories and they take affect, because they don't like to have such people in their state.
It's now more than 2 years ago and the case is still not closed. I lost my job, I lost my appartment and still have a lot of trouble with banks and other companies that claim their money.
After I leaved the prison, my boyfriend planned to come back to me and live together again. But 2 week later he was murdered. Seems so, he met the wrong poeple while I was in prison.
I hope in the next view month the case will be closed and I can try to forget this shit. (For sure, you never can forget. But at least you will stop always thinking about this.)

i feel a bit scared now ...i was planning to go to prague by june ...i did not know you could get in trouble with the police ...i thought prostitution was legal there ...
do you think it is a risky thing to do ?

If you go for the first time there, I think it's not a big risk. Also, it's not really forbidden, but they don't like it there.
Be careful in bars. Many boys are lying about the age, because they like to make easy money. So let you show their ID or passport before and when they don't have it - don't do it. All other papers they try to show you, you can not accept! They also use false or stolen papers, so check it carefully!
There are also some so called "agencies" that real fuck up the boys. For exsample you pay the boy 100 Euro, this boy have to give back about 60 Euro to his "agent".
I always tried a clean business and to be a friend for the models. It looks like some of these "agencies" didn't liked it and brought me in this trouble. How is it possible, that the police was (and is) thinking I had sex with boys under 15 years old. I don't know even one so young boy there...

thanks a lot about your tips in Prague ....that what i thought when i was there ...at Pinocchio or Escape ...some of those boys are not 18 even if they pretend to ...

Wow I am so sorry to hear about your time in jail Lippi. At least now you can have a chance to start over. I have a Webmaster friend who got put in jail for a night in Prague also, because they thought he was a prostitute and he didn't have his passport on him! Fortunately he just paid a hefty fine and they let him go the next day. He was just there as a tourist LOL. But that story is nothing compared to 8 months in jail. :err:

But you do got to be careful in any foreign country, and especially be very discreet and do tons and tons of research if you are going to do shooting.
