Twink, Bear, Barebacking, Docking, Etc etc means?

Been looking at various adult wm boards the last hour or so and it seems glaringly obvious to me that many straight webmasters have no idea what the terms above mean so, do you think it would follow that bicurious surfers also wouldnt know or at least, not know all of the terms?

Given that NON adult folk usually don't know intimate terms/jargon for certain lifestyles, it would make sense that adult webmasters have to learn it also. I know I spend a considerable amount of time checking into correct terminology as it matters to me that a gallery or website "walks the walk, and talks the talk" ... but there are many who don't and it shows in the sites they build. As for the bi-curious surfer ... only through exposure to the gay sites we build will they "learn" what various terms mean and how it applies to the lifestyle... and for that reason it IS important that we're accurate in the pictures we choose and the descriptions we apply to our content.

i'd say no, more curious guys don't know what those terms mean than do. and a fair smattering of gay surfers don't, either. i do best for clicks and sales by keeping it all blaringly obvious.

Good discussion. The correct specialized terms for the gay niches are important. Guys who are into those niches will zero in on those terms right away. Bearhunters know what bears are; rimmers know what rimming is. But, yes, it may take some "internet porn lingo" education. I have a friend my age. He's been out for years, and didn't know what "twink" meant; and twink is his favorite kind of guy, go figure. (Guess that can happen if you grow up a preacher's kid in Iowa.) I remember using the term "twinkie" for thin, young, ditzy guys years ago when I was in my mid-twenties.

When I wanted to come up with a list of gay niches for a site, I went to a number of gay tgp's to see what the categories were, and copied 'em all down. The 4 terms that seemed a little odd to me were blowjobs, ebony, interracial, and mature. I ended up using blowjobs (instead of cocksucking) and ebony (also using black). I dropped interracial (don't have any content yet), but the alternative is black and white, or black and white together...both too long. Mature I changed to Daddies. Mature just seems to imply older women, and young guys who want older men want to call them Daddies. What do others think?

Now I'd disagree on using the term Daddies for a general description of a site or set of imagery of older males. This is another one of those words that I think we could use a good definition of. Anyone here feel they can give an accurate description of how and when and where "daddy" applies in gay culture?

‘Daddies’ is one of those categories that encompass a few niches and some subcultures in the market.

In very general terms a Dad a gay man 35+ not necessarily hairy and doesn’t have to fall into another typical category. For me, there has to be an essence of ‘straight acting’ about them.

In some Leather communities a Daddy is a Dom
In some Bear communities a Daddy is a Top to a younger Bottom
In some areas a Dad is strictly used in terms of a Sugar Daddy.
In some jargon, a Daddy can simple be a hard ass top.
And in my premise, a Dad is a straight man with children playing it with men on the side.

Personally, I don’t think of all mature men as Daddies.

from what i see, daddy is for older, larger type guy, a top, that likes younger guys.

When I was younger the queens would call cute top boys daddy when they where trying to be cute. However, now the cute young tops think of it more as a time to leave, and move on to something more manly. that's what they tell me at the local bar here. (I live in a college town. F.S.U.)

I never liked the incest flavor either. There is a whole niche of Daddies and Sons which is simple put Old men with young guys.

I used to hang out at a bar in the Greenwich Village called Julius'. It was had the rep of being a "Daddy Bar' Older guys trolling for younger guys.

Language is learned and based on experience and necessity and aesthetics. For instance, when I first started as a model, someone asked me if I was into "watersports." As a compettitive swimer I took that to mean skiing, boating, wave runners etc...boy, did I learn that lesson quickly! As far as the daddy thing goes, I think you're right GA.
