How Would You Define An 'Update'

Just curious as to what everyones definition of an 'update' is when it comes to paysite members areas?

How would you define a paysite update and, more importantly, what do you think a surfer wants to see with every update?

Any new content to that site is an update, that’s an easy question. :max:

To me it means physically adding something new to the domain niche content, whether it's in the exclusive, bonus galleries (not feeds) or stories. As to what the surfer expects has more to do with what the basis of the site is in the first place. If it's exclusive photos, then that's what they'll be wanting, if it's heavy on movies... then I'd say they'd be looking for those as 'updates'. If you have a niche and update a general porn bonus section, I'm not sure they consider that a real update.

I have seen a couple sites/programs that have done a very good job though of adding in information about an update in their "what's new" section of the member page REGARDLESS of where it is, including their feeds. The way it was handled with both presentation and "talk" brought the feeds into a very active component of the site as a whole. I've seen this done by both str8 and gay programs. The effect is that there's multiple update links posted on a daily basis.

Probably the only way to really answer this would be to poll your members.

depends on the site. a site that has a video with a set of pics in episode form - ie, a reality site - would add 1 full video and 1 full set of pics to be what i'd consider a full update. nastydollars adds their videos in three parts, but each is only part, so i consider that each nastydollars site adds one update per week.
