Stephen Colbert jokes don't go over well at WH dinner.

All over the TV all weekend you heard about how Bush made fun of himself at the WH dinner. The jokes you didn't hear were the ones by Stephen Colbert. Most of his jokes didn't go over very well with the audience I guess that is why we didn't hear about it on the nightly news. In case you didn't hear Stephens jokes here is a video http://movies.crooksandliars.com/WH-Dinner-Colbert.wmv

The audience seemed a little subdued. It's probably because they were in shock. Stephen Colbert better watch his back! He has pissed off a lot of very powerful people.

Perhaps there's something I'm not seeing, but I've never thought that there was anything *remotely* funny about Stephen Colbert, either on his show or when he was on the Daily Show. In my book, his humor is similar to the lowest of the lowbrow beer commercials... just plain stupid.

Why Fox ever gave him a show I have *no* idea.

I'm not a huge fan of his show-- I feel like the character he plays is a little too one-note to support a full show-- but I thought he had HUGE balls to get up there and do the stuff at the WH dinner. it was subversive and he got some good digs in there, but all in character and perfect for him. I agree that I think the audience was a little shocked... but I think his audience is the public, more than the "media elite" etc that were there.

He's not on Fox. He's on Comedy Central. Lowbrow? Are you sure you even know who Stephen Colbert is? He is THE supreme satirist working today!

My bad. I meant Comedy Central.

And yes, I realize that it's supposed to be satire, but I think there are much better satirists out there... Jon Stewart is brilliant, where Colbert's falls flat. I'll admit that maybe 1 out of 50 of his jokes hits on, but Stewart actually hits dead on. (Bill Mahar, while it isn't really satire, is also brilliant.)

    But maybe that's just me

I don't like Colberts new show ether. I did however like him when he was on The Daily Show.
