You do realize by 'gay' I mean a man who has sex with other men?

Would Viral Marketing Work In Adult As Well As It Does In Mainstream?

Something along the lines of a 'porn' version of YouTube for example?

Do you think surfers would distribute movies linked on such a site as much as most of us do with those 'funny' movies we all get sent by friends and family?

Your thoughts, would this work well?

    Regards,

    Lee

I bet if you did something hot, erotic, but not explicit, it would do very well... either that or something really funny or out there.

I'm thinking of something along the lines of the "cleaning hunk" video for the pine cleaner, or else something like amishbondage.com or the clownporn site.

I really liked the cleaning hunk, but they cleaned it up. They cut the tape now before he takes his pants off. I want to see that man naked!!

its difficult when dealing with adult content cuz a lot of this stuff gets sent to people's work addresses.

Yeah, i have no idea why they changed it... somebody complained... but there was nothing remotely over the line about it, certainly nothing worse than what's on network TV.

You can still see the original one on YouTube. If we could find the guy, we'd totally talk to him about doing a scene for us

One of the best viral marketing campaign ever was, in my opinion, Crispin Porter's Subervient Chicken, who was then adapted by Beer.com under the name: Virtual Bartender. Both were quite popular (and FUN!).

I tried to replicate it to use as a publicity stunt for a gay portal site I was going to launch but... school caught up with me... so I never got to finish it. But anyway, I strongly believe if someone could do something similar but for a gay porn site it would catch on like wildfire.

If someone ever wanna try it just send me an email, I'd love to help you out.

Also, to add on to Lee's suggestion of a 'porn version of YouTube'... : People are only starting to realize the vast appeal of websites that are built upon user-generated content. YouTube is a great example, Wikipedia is of course another very good example, but there is also Flickr (for photos), IgoUgo (for travel), Wikinews and OhMyNews (for news).

Those could all be adapted for gay sites (porn or not)... such as OurSpot, a new website that tries to mix Gay.com with OhMyNews.

Blogs and podcasts are hot right now... but wait until video blogs (vlogs) get more popular. We'll be inundated by a sea of surfers who will not only surf, but who will also contribute.

    What do you think?

Thats exactly what i meant earlier in the thread, the age of some of these guys / girls making these types of things are just amazing, people spend thousands of dollars learning how to make clips and animations like most of the people can make naturally.
