    What is wrong with....

    This industry now?

I came out of "retirement" after a two year break playing poker. Kept one employee who did nothing but send traffic to sponsors for me the past two years.

    Now, it's just not fun.

We have pricks like Justin and that Cobra boi (sorry not into bareback twinks) beings thorns in our sides. I would love to see the Cobra boi testify before Congress like Justin did on how he was allowed to be in videos when he was 17. Probably will never happen because at most they will want to see his birth cerfificate.

Down to two processors that are reliable.

Boards that use to be fun like avsfriendly are just echoes.

None of the BIG players are posting on the gay boards that much and offering advice.

    It's just a creepy feeling.

    Hey, Bostonboy,

It's nice to have another voice from someone who's been around a while. I've learned so much from listening to the people that have been in this biz longer than I have (2003 for me).

Perhaps it would be useful for me (and anyone else to go and look at the ancient archives of posts on various boards... from what you're saying, I bet there's a lot of good info there to be had. I'm curious which of the BIG players you're referring to that used to post that aren't posting any more, as that might be a good way to start searching in my (nonexistent) spare time

A lot of shit went down since then, namely VISA forcing the AVS model to change, or at least trying to. VISA regs re:$750 extortion fee to add your site to the system. Proposed 2257 regulations

Things change guess adult isn't so immune

But I have to agree it's not fun anymore, 2-3 years ago is about when it ended being fun for me too

I did the visa thing. Changed 5,000 Avs sites. Bla Bla Bla. The mood is just weird. And the 2257 thing is still a mess. 10 different lawyers will give you 10 differenet answers.

the visa change to keeping cb's under 1%, the changes in avs's that were not too pleasant, acacia being a potential threat, 2257 changes which still aren't set in stone so NO one can truly know what may happen, a huge influx of noobs, the economy in general, large programs changing their business model so that their sites are of more value to them leased as feeds than keeping the content exclusive - there are a lot of changes in this industry and some make things a lot less fun.

and don't forget we lost several processors in 2004, limiting our options severely.

the internet went through a wonderful and exciting childhood and now the adult internet is going through a rough adolescence. we're adjusting, changing, starting to find our independence.

Most of these I dealt with. It was the 2257 that really was the last straw.

What was once a big legal issue 4 years ago internet gambling and all porn lawyers said NO LINKS! Is now where I make my bread and butter. As a consumer though, not a marketer.

    Go figure.
