Do you really push the Join Now in front of the surfer with flashing buttons and large font, or do you keep your links small and not in their face?
From a usability standpoint its good to be agressive because its right in their face and they dont have to hunt for it.
From another standpoint someone may get annoyed like youre pushing them or they feel like theyre being pressured and leave.
Which methods have worked best for you all?
Make the 'join now' links stand out, thats what you want them to do otherwise, they are just costing you money.

I personally think the in-your-face method would work best for genreating more sales - especilly if the price point is competitive(or cheap). With that being said, personally I dont like it when the link is large and flashes colours like a neon sign.
But in the long run I'd guess that a mixture of visibility & design are what would work best...Make sure your surfers know how to sign up when they are ready. The best way to to make it easy for them, but dont let them forget where to click.
I don't know if its aggressive or not, but I think the join link needs to stand out as Lee has pointed out. The flashing neon crap turns me off actually but I think you can highlight the join link without making it annoying. A lot depends on what it is you are wanting them to join I think.

Also, dont forget, the sooner you get them to the join page, the better.
The more stuff that they have to hunt through to join, the more stuff they have that could potentially turn them off from joining the site.

Yes I totally agree with that images are the most important thing allot of people do not even read most of that crap you spend so much time doing. The background images and cut-outs have to overwhelm the page. Text, buttons and such are only accents. But that said your images can totally overwhelm your join buttons so a little flashing or attention you can draw to them can be a good thing.
So are you an advocate for one page tours?
Im making a tour now and debating doing a short 2 pager or a long pager
i don't like flashing overwhelming join links but in the last week i've seen 3 paysites where i couldn't find the join link. one didn't have one till you got to page 3, which is foolish becauze it means that if someone wanted to join on page 1, they can't. the other 2 were just hard to find.
make your join link obvious because if people DO want to join, and you're not helping them get there, nobody will be as happy.
i don't join immediately so probably the button i would be looking for is "tour" , what i am looking for is "consistency" ( whatever model is on the outside better be on the inside or you will be eating a charge-back! ) , ease of navigation , and probably most important media that i can view later and/or when my connection is not so great ( europe/asia/etc. )
i want weekly updates at least 1 model , 1 film , 1 erotic story ( preferably something military involving 2 grease mechanics changing each other oil in the motor pool ) i want "behind the scenes" i want a view of what goes on behind your models/set designs/etc. ( you can never get close enough ) i want exotic locations once in awhile "european tour" and before it really sounds like i'm demanding... :whip:

First of all there is no set guidlines for the length of a tiur page.
The best tour i ever seen had over 50. And I had bookmarket at least five of them. Thnik about that.
Concerning join now, You need to make it obvious to a degree, but not enought to focus attention off other stuff.
To answer Basschick there is a rule in porn called the lowest common demominator rule.
What that means is, lets sayyou have a page that is long - say it fills the length of two 4 screens when u scroll down on an 800 by 600 monitor. You want some link to your joing page to be on ever part of the way down the page that the surfer can see. So if its 2400 pixels long, you want a least 4 join links spread out. These can bee see all the model link that lead to a join page etc.
Basically the point is you always want easy acces to a join link w/o someone having to scroll. And some times its best to not asy join all the time. First link should be join, other 2 could be more videos here, final should be join now, instantant access whatever.

If you have a pay site and you want members to join then you have to put the JOIN NOW button right in their face.
