    I'm looking for Advice

    Hey Guys,

I have a couple of questions that I want to put out there regarding our site.

    a) Do you think we would make significantly more sign-ups if we reduced our monthly price to $24.95 and scrapped our trial price of $14.95?

    b) We are thinking about a $29.95 (non recurring) 1 month option

    c) And also start offering a 3 month option at $64.95 (non recurring)

I'm also interested to know if this would affect the way you promoted us?
i.e Try & send us more traffic, keep us where we are, or send us less?

Please bear in mind our members get TWO armpit related sites for their membership, ShowUs & AP.

Whilst we are happy with initial Sales we can't help thinking that this is a huge market and there is something not quite right with our current membership levels, Granted it could just be that this venture is still way to new to tell, but I'm not getting that WOW factor in my head that I had anticipated with this site. I realise being this honest with you guys is asking for potential problems but I also realise if we get on the right track from the start with pricing...Our hot exclusive content and retention will pay-off in the end for all concerned.

    Thanks

Truth for me would be to know how long have you been doing it? I mean if you have only been live a few months I'd say its too early to know, and then too, there is the traffic issues to consider.

If you are getting traffic solely from affiliates, then what about other sources? Are you for example pushing your own site on the TGP/MGP sites? Link Lists? AEN sites?

It's fine to look at the price points, but are they been given a chance to determine if they are too expensive?

If it is a new site, less than 6 months, then free SE traffic wouldn't have kicked in either. and that assumes it is SEO to begin with.

So I think you need to look at those variables before deciding the price point, not to mention looking at the tour pages themselves as well. Do you push the right aspects of the site in the tour, can it be tweaked, can it be honed to get the surfer to dig in the wallet?

Have you considered offering a 24.95 recurring and then maybe a 29.95 or 34.95 non recurring option? Perhaps relegate the trial offer via a 2nd popup upon exit?

Ok well in that case it would be too early to tell, we opened in mid May, As far as traffic is concerned, I'm actually very pleased with our traffic and its conversions. But Despite a good amount of resellers signing up, some are only sending 10 clicks a week, which to me seems weird?

As I say we have AEN sites and our own type ins plus we are SEO and getting good traffic due to type ins. TGP/MGP I've never had much dealings with, Trying to get Partner accounts got riduculous at one point and time became too precious.....maybe that has changed?

    All Good points....Thanks

And in all honesty, the site's converting and not too badly either! I just expected a WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOsh and I'm getting a wooooosh!

It actually makes me feel a little better just putting it out there so I'm not second guessing myself all the time worrying about what I could/should be doing.

    Thanks Guys

I think that is the hardest part of all, the second guessing when you first put something out there. It is extremely hard not to be checking stats every ten minutes or so to see but in all honesty, you do need to give it time to generate a history of some sort that will make practicle sense.

Being so new, SE traffic won't have kicked in. The sandbox on Google is good for several months at least if not longer, but it also will depend on the keywords being pushed.

I'd be looking at the tour long before I looked at price points at this time. But that's me.

Ok now I just feel kinda dumb [not unusual feeling these days believe me]

Someone I respect & trust from this board emailed me and asked what my membership level was since we opened.....usually obviously I wouldn't have shared but in this case I did and I was truthful......

    His reply:

"OMG and you think you have problems??? Dude your site is kicking ass!!!!!"

On that note I'm going to go off and take a chill pill, relax, and stop worrying about what I should or shouldn't be doing differently.

BTW if you own a TGP and want new galleries with fresh content email me with whatever I need to login and submit to you and I'll gadly build and send them the way you like them

    Thanks all, this was interesting.....

We had a fairly lengthy discussion a few months back about this issue with Workin' Men Movies. Several of us were selling a lot of trials for him, but few were converting to sales. A part of it was because his movies are small, but a big part of it is that surfers just know they can sign up for a trial, get everythign they want and leave.

When WMM killed the trials my sales went up and so did my rebills.

I suspect the same will happen with you.

I think one of the things your site has going against you right now is that it's new and the content levels aren't where they need to be to pull in conversions from a trial. I know you're working like mad and updating, but I suspect a surfer will come in on a trial and burn through it all pretty quickly.

I think one of the things that you have go for you in a big way is that you're building a community not just a porn site and your niche is so specific and underserviced. You shouldn't need a trial to entice them in because if a surfer is into armpits where else is he going to go. It's like Workin' Men Movies, if you're into scruffy, rednecks, WMM is it. So take advantage of that and make them pay the $24.95. Your concept and content are good enough to stand on their own merits.

Personally, I hate trials. The think the only people who win with trials are the surfer, who gets lots of porn for nothing, and the site, who gets a lot of traffic. The referring webmaster gets screwed on trials unless there's a $30 PPS, and even then there are shaving issues.

I'd dump the trial for now. Down the road, I might open up a trial, but only give them access to limited amounts of content and give them a glass wall to see what they're missing on the other side.

    cheers,
    Michael

He is VERY right trials are a totally waist and just promote calculations regardless of what you offer them. I might also suggest offering more the 1 price a higher one for affiliates so both you and them can make more and a lower price for your own traffic.

I've never liked the idea of cheap "trials". It just seems like an opportunity for chargebacks.

I prefer the concept of picking a first-month price you are comfortable with and "rewarding" recurring members by discounting the recurring price.

For example, I charge $19.95 for the first month and $9.95 recurring.

I was told that anything under $10 is the "magic number", meaning if a customer sees a charge of less than $10, they don't bother to cancel or chargeback and just let it recur each month.
