Is your City in this List?

    London
    Manchester
    Paris
    Barcelona
    Quebec
    Montreal
    Seattle
    Washington DC
    New York
    Miami
    Fort Lauderdale
    Sydney
    Perth
    Dallas
    Minneapolis
    Austin
    San Diego
    San Francisco

If so I'd really like to know what free gay weekly rag is given out in the bars in your city. Preferably one like Cybersocket that is aimed at the websavvy surfer but I'll take 'club info' & 'local gay news' types too.

If you could post their email addys in your replies it would be really helpful but a publications name/phone number would be cool too!

    Thanks Guys

In San Diego, the local bar rag that everyone takes with them is called Rocket. It's a pocket sized magazine targeting the club/bar/adult industry here.

You can speak with Gay & Lesbian Times crew at www.gaylesbiantimes.com or call 619.299.6397 or sales@uptownpub.com.

My current city isnt in the list, but I used to live in seattle so I have their info. The name of the paper is Seattle Gay News, and their URL is http://www.sgn.org/.

You may also want to check out The Stranger, it is an alternative paper that is published weekly there and has a very pro-gay stance and weekly distribution of 75K (when i was working there several years ago, probably more now). http://www.thestranger.com/seattle/Home

    Dave:

Alas, Austin is torn - its too big to be insignificant, yet not big enough to support its own exclusive bar rag.

For Austin try the New Orleans-based bar rag Ambush.

    http://www.ambushmag.com/

Their website has all their circulation and distribution information. Apart from other gay papers, they are stable - they've essentially been doing the same thing since I first encountered them back in 1996. And so many others have either dissapeared or been bought out and changed.

They have good coverage in Austin, plus they are big in New Orleans and Pensacola, Florida. However, I'm not sure if people reveal their armpits in Pensacola. It might attract the gators.

    In Montreal it's Fugues - www.fugues.com - but it's in french.

In Quebec I think it's Fugues and RG Mag - www.rgmag.com - but again they're in french.

As far I know there are no english gay mags from either Montreal or Quebec. I'll look later this week and will let you know.

The freebie rag here in the Castro District/San Francisco is Gloss, its left in bars/shops etc. There actually used to be Odyssey, which was based here also circulating in LA and Hawaii. Not sure if that still is around though

There are freebie two rags here in the Castro District/San Francisco, first is Odyssey. Its been around forever at least as long as I have lived here (15 years) http://odysseymagazine.com. The newer of the two is Gloss, I do not have a copy of that handy, but will grab one next time I'm out and about and get the info
