    Introducing AVN Online's "Gaydar"

    Hiya folks!

Just wanted to let you know that AVN Online is about to launch a brand new regular column in the magazine, beginning with the September issue. It's called Gaydar, and it will be a monthly roundup of what's new and interesting in the gay webmaster community.

I'll be hitting a lot of you up to gather info for this column, but just wanted to give you a heads up in case you wanted to shoot me an email and give me some pre-emptive info. If you have any new sites that are being launched, any new payout advances, signing any new exclusives, and/or sponsoring any big give-aways, contests, or promotions, PLEASE let me know.

Coverage of gay webmasters will still be spread throughout the magazine. It's very important to us that we not relegate it to just one section of the magazine, but show that gay wembasters are indeed a vital force within the industry that is in many ways spearheading some of our biggest technological advances and industry ingenuities.

Again, I'll be phoning lots of you up, but just to be sure, if you could email your contact info to kenknox@avnonline.com just so I have it, that would be great.

Many thank yous. And I look forward to chatting with you all in the months to come.

    XOXO,
    Ken

You do realize by 'gay' I mean a man who has sex with other men?

Does that mean that you will be doing away with GayVN if you are going to be featuring the gay side of the industry in AVN Online?

You've only had GayVN out for a few months so id hope you werent going to be closing the print version, especially as so much hype was given about the GayVN mag prior to its launch in Vegas.

Thats not to mention that it could be construed that the GayVN mag was just a way for AVN to bilk some additional $$$ from the gay side of the industry as a few people thought before its launch.

    Regards,

    Lee

Now where would you get an idea like that, Lee? Of course we are not doing away with GAYVN.

GAYVN isn't an Internet-specific magazine; it covers the entire gay porn industry, but it's mostly focused on the brick-and-mortar side of the business. B/cuz AVN Online is specific to the Internet, and b/cuz there are so many gay webmasters out there, we felt it was a good idea to devote a regular space in each issue of the book to them.

From what I can tell, everyone at AVN is very happy with GAYVN and the response it's gotten. No worries on that end.

You do realize that "GayDar" is trademarked and owned by Gaydar.com?

    http://www.gaydar.com/ "©1998 - 2006 Gaydar ™ . All rights reserved"

You might want to check with your lawyers before you get yourselves into trouble. ;-)

Yeah, that is totally something you want to be careful with and want to check out.

But I look forward to seeing the new deal... no matter what the name... I enjoy my monthly GayVN. It keeps me nicely updated.

    Thanks

Well, the word "gaydar" has been around for long before that site existed. It's not like they coined the phrase. We're not launching a site called gaydar, just naming one of our columns "The Gaydar." I just checked with my boss. We're pretty sure we're clear on this one, but we'll look into it. Thanx for the heads up.
