is anyone else experiencing slow sales? over the last 2 weeks they have gone down quite noticably for me across our affiliate accounts as well as our own sites.

My sales are up if not the same shocking because I have done nothing exempt get ready for my new site in a long time. No real point to push a site that I will be changing/moving on to a new one soon, and its nice to give the directory guys a break from time to time.

Summer slowdown

I guess mine are more stagnating instead of the usual upward trend I've been having over the last year. its nothing dramatic really but I always freak at the slightest change.. hmmmmm.... anyone else?

Yeah thats what I thought at first, but I haven't actually experienced much of a summer slowdown for the last couple of years so I thought this year would be the same.

Whenever these summer slowdown threads come up people always post saying they're having the same problems, then others will post and say no difference, then others will post and say better then ever (usually promoting a program)

If you learn to plan in advance for people being away from their computers and out enjoying the weather, then you can avoid potential problems. People usually do this by emailing past subs, or updating more, or bringing in more traffic to compensate - or all of the above.

Two weeks ago some of my sponsors did so well that I thought there wouldn't be any summer slowdown at all. However, the past week was terrible. It seems sales go in streaks this year... very unequally spread over the different time periods. Several years ago this phenomenon wasn't so pronounced.


Maybe the surfers got very picky? Why wouldn't they, after all there's so much free porn out there. if I put myself in the place of a surfer, I guess these days I'd buy only membership to the sites that really hit me as something either original or just what I was lusting for at the moment. It's summer time, so I think sites with lifeguards, beach hunks and sweaty tanned bodies should do well. (Just a thought, better listen to Squirt's advice - good planning and solid business model over the whole year is much better than this sort of speculation hehe)

it could be summer slowdown, but don't forget the world cup - that may have affected your non-u.s. and even your u.s. sales.

and if it IS summer slowdown, or even if it's not, why not take this opportunity to change and add to your marketing strategy. maybe build some hubs, buy traffic from new sources, or create a second tour for affiliates or a new kind of promo tool like free sites or hosted blogs.

whether you're seeing less sales or just want more, it couldn't hurt to work on getting fresh traffic or filtering your current traffic differently!
