howto? Setting up a resizable cut-out-area-frame?

    Hi y'all

maybe some of you graphics cracks can help me with this one:

I need thumbnails to be 184 heigh and 146 wide, since that is somewhat off by a few pixels to the actual ratio of pictures I need to cut out the area of my desire of the original pictures.

To do this I would like to set up a selection area with exact the 184x146 pixels and then just resize it somehow (shift+dragging, ctrl+dragging, etc) while preserving the aspect ratio to fit the area I wish to cut out and use as a smaller thumbnail.

Programs I use: Fireworks, Adobe Pagemaker.

    Thanks a LOT

    DEV...

excuse me, Mr.Devilicious, does PageMaker offer a crop tool (I've never used or seen it being used) ?

Or, better yet, do you have Photoshop?

Excuse yourself, lil' Paco, I recon your way old enough

I found it out in Fireworks

    Coose the "Selection Tool (M)"
then in properties you have the "Style" Dropdown list - here you have the choices of "Normal", "Fixed Ratio", "Fixed Size" - I chose "Fixed Ratio" and entered like 184px height, 146px width

Now when I draw a selection I have exact the ratio I want while still being able to resize the selection area.

    Thanks y'all
