Venetian versus Harrahs and AVN January

OK< I just found the dates for the AVN show in January 2007 -- the 10th through the 13th. It doesn't say anything about Internext though. Does anyone know if there is an Internext at all or just the AVN Expo???

Last year I stayed at the Venezia in the Venetian. It was very nice, but I see Harrahs is half the cost of the Venetian so almost $1000 less if I stay 5 nights. I have never stayed at Harrahs before. Who has an opinion on Harrahs?

We have stayed at Harrah's twice now for the show. It is pretty nice and thank god we didn't stay there this past internext because The Ventian was just a madhouse with the 3 conventions there. We also stayed there for free a long time ago and got a free mini suite which was super nice.

Thanks Mark. I really like the Venezia and Venetian, but $350 for a room to shit shower and shave seems a bit steep, especially if Harrahs is next door at $165 and the walk to many of the rooms in the Venetian is almost as far as Harrahs!! I just won't stay in a dumpy hotel like the Imperial Palace. There is a line that separates inexpensive and cheap and the IP crosses that line ;-)

isn't harrahs the hotel that fired a long term employee with an excellent service record because - at over 50 years of age - she was told she had to wear makeup to work and refused?

Chad, honestly, I don't think there's that much difference between the IP and Harrahs. The rooms at both are quite serviceable. Yes, IP is a little threadworn, but hey, I actually thought the rooms were a little bigger than Harrah's. (We've stayed at both, and I totally agree that either is a much better deal than the Venetian.)

Also, last I heard from Chad Beecher at AVN (when I saw him at Phoenix Forum), there is not going to be an Internext Vegas next year. Of course, I recently heard differently from somebody at Maleflixxx... but given a choice, I'd choose Chad as the more reliable source, unless my info is outdated

    The show will go on...

Show Dates Announced for Internext Las Vegas 2007

CHATSWORTH, California – Internext Las Vegas 2007 will be held January 15-17 at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, AVN Media Network announced.

The show will follow AVN’s Adult Entertainment Expo, which runs from January 10-13 at the Venetian, and the AVN Awards on January 13. The Consumer Electronics Show takes place in Las Vegas January 8-11.

“We solicited and considered a lot of feedback. The great majority wanted Internext after AEE, but still in January,” says Teri Owens, Internext show manager. “With AEE just before Internext, attendees have the option going to just one show or doing both.”

To reserve your space now or for more detailed information on Internext Las Vegas 2007, please contact your account executive, email Teri@Internext-Expo.com or call 818-718-5788, ext. 131.

Hmmm-- I think someone at AVN listened to some of the complaints of the January 2006 show.

The show is now during the week instead of weekend so hotel rates are MUCH lower and back at a more affordable location than the Venetian. AND not at the same time as the largest convention of the Las Vegas year, so no hour long lines for a taxi.

Chip-- size is not everything! I am more concerned that the rooms are clean and the walls are thick enough so that I can't hear the television [or other noises] from the adjoining rooms or hallways.

I probably will just go to Internext, and if that is at Mandalay Bay, the Luxor is a good value at $120 a night.

Wow, I am soooooooo glad to hear that it's finally at a decent time... after CES, after New Years. Hotel rates should be good, it should be a lot less congested, and there should be a lot less poseurs.

Whatever possessed AVN to put the two together is beyond me, but I'm glad they learned their lesson

I only wish I could visit Vegas again. I had a blast the last time. But it wasn't for a convention. And I'm too poor to afford such a thing right now. Maybe I can try for next year's Pheonix Forum. Though I do miss going to Florida for Internext.

Rates were low enough that I ponied up for a suite at THE Hotel at Mandalay Bay. I haven't stayed there yet and thought it looked very cool plus still $150 a night less than the Venetian.

    Westin

We stayed at the Westin the year it "re-opened" and we had friends that stayed at a larger place. We were checked in, unpacked, and downstairs before our friends were even checked in at their LARGE hotel.

    Given the chance...and price...
    Westin is MUCH better.
    100% non-smoking.
    Great beds.

    But Harrahs is good too.

I've never been to the shows, but I remember hearing that this year there are going to be a lot less booths and more networking functions & parties like a lot of the other shows. So it may be more beneficial to stay at the host hotel, although I dont know how much that is

I've only been to vegas once and the idea of going back and forth to another hotel seems like such a pain in the ass. good luck to all of you :playboy:
