Where are the gayest friendliest places in the world?

I'm just day dreaming about traveling and wonder where the gay friendly travel places are.
Ive been to canada which fucking Rocks! And Amsterdam was awesome too.
I Know Ive always wanted to go to Spain and thats pretty gay friendly.
I want to go to Italy, even though its not very gay friendly (I think a guy got his drivers license taken away because he's gay) I want to see the history and the food.

where else? Where have you guys been that was a blast?

Sydney typically wins all contests for the gayest city on Earth.

I've never seen anything really to disparage that commendation.

Living in Australia the last 4 years I can tell you Sydney is very Gay friendly :king:

BUT Australia as a whole is very homophobic and Gay bashings are the norm and the typical Gay stereotypes apply to most here... hairdresser, drag queen, theatre etc. and while Sydney is a haven for those in our community.

Things are starting to change. The latest season of Big Brother is a good example.. Gay housemate David, who is a cowboy and a farmer :3ymca: , is ticketed to win the series and of course when intruders were let into the house they included a "typical" Gay aussie stereotype - an infeminant hairdresser with over plucked eyebrows.

Also don't forget as far as living in Australia they are a very xenophobic society.... so Gay or not, being a foreigner means sticking with your own kind ( other foreigners ), as assumptions are made when you speak with an accent. Instead of being a person you're considered a Yank, wog, Kiwi, etc. There's even a popular commercial out now denoting a girl as having "Yanki ho blue eyeshadow"

xenophobic? no more than other countries IMO. Travel out to to rural parts of any country and you will find the same kind of homophobia. I don't know where your living but it's not like that here in melbourne, and definitely not like that in sydney.

and btw that commercial actually says "SKANKY hoe blue eye-shadow", not yanky.... :3ymca:

Italy is VERY GAY...nobody makes a big deal about it...because the men are all "straight" - they just hang with the guys in the T-rooms and dark alleys - just like Greece, also very cool

Suprised nobody mentioned San Francisco - or is it because its too obvious?

If you see a cute guy in SF, chances are that he is gay

    Tucson, Arizona !

Tucson passed a sexual orientation non-discrimination ordinance in 1973, long before even San Francisco. There is not a big "gay ghetto" but amazingly liberal and has all the kitsch shops and cafes you would expect from a small liberal city. Rainbow flags in store windows all year long too~

I think some or the gayest places are often at the end of the road --like Provincetown and Key West. Many are a bit isolated from the rest of the world, like Anchorage.

And not to forget Berlin! Probably my favorite European city! Amsterdam is a great city but Berlin has a huge artistic presence and a rich history that makes it absolutely fabulous. If we could speed up the pace of global warming, Berlin would be my next home.

Washington DC is pretty gay. Wait, DC is REALLY gay. You can't throw a dead cat in DC and not hit a lawyer or homo. Many times both.

Austin, Texas is gay-friendly, a blue dot in a red sea.

Iowa City, Iowa has been welcoming homos home from throughout the Midwest for years, at least the ones that did not go to Minneapolis, Minnesota or Madison, Wisconsin.

Scottsdale, Arizona is gay-friendly, but I think that has a lot to do with Scottsdale being very status-conscious and right now having gay friends is cool.
