    Anyone Try This Billing Option?

The longer a surfer stays a member, the more the monthly memberships costs them?

I know a lot of sites offer discounted rates the longer a surfer stays a paying member but i was wondering if anyone had tried charging more the longer a surfer stays a paying member?

I mean, in theory, the member should be getting charged more if you think about it, they get more and more content each month on a site if they have been a member for more than 1 month than a surfer that joined today for example, shouldnt they have to pay more because of it?

What are your folks thoughts on this, have you ever tried upping the membership price after the members initial month and, if so, how well did it work?

    Regards,

    Lee

Well, if I would be a member of such a website, I would cancel my membership after a month and later I would sign in again. I think no one will stay longer as one month, if ever they sign up.

^^ I would have to agree.

Does any processor even support this kind of billing model?

    It's a completely ridiculous concept.

Think of it this way... the site becomes less valuable to the rebilling member even though more content is added. They've already seen the old stuff. Only the new content is of any interest to them.

This is stupid. He is getting LESS every month.

    Example:

1st month he see's site with 20,000 pics and 50 vids.

2nd month he sees same site with 21,000 pics and 55 vids.

So for month to he is getting 1,000 pics and 5 vids that are new. How can you say he is getting more than a member that just joined on his second month as a member.

I wouldn't join and rejoin. I would just either never join or just cancel.

We treat affiliates like gold. Give them a great webmaster area, all the tools they need, 24/7 icq support. Fuck, treat the members as well as we treat the affiliates. Give them a home. Make them feel wanted. They are your most valuable asset.

And under this model, would you offer a cancel discount to get them to stay or would you say instead of raising my price $5 next mont I will only raise it $4?

This is a dumb idea. Plain and simple. I hOPE no one starts this as it will cause a bad name for the industry and bad vibes w/ consumers.

A porn site is like almost anything else in life, it's value to a consumer decreases over time as they explore all the site and the only thing new is the updates.

    DUMB! DUMB! DUMB!

Cool, i figured that would be the response so...

With that said, how do you all feel about trial memberships for $14.95 that rebill to $29.95 at the end?

Based on what you guys have just explained, the member should only be rebilled another $14.95.

The same should also hold true for $2.95 trials, etc etc.

If the surfer joined for $2.95, then they should only be rebilled at $2.95 every 3 days i mean after all, they have already seen the content so they are only getting an extra 1k or so pics a month, why charge them more for content that they have already seen?

    Regards,

    Lee

They actually get the same. If a member stays five months and a new member joins on the 5th month that the member has been there, what are you giving extra that the new member is not getting. All the member that has been there five months is getting new is whatever you updated that month, but even that's the same as the new member is getting. And the member that's been there five months has probably seen all the stuff that's "new" to the new members.

You are aware that there are CMS scripts that only deliver new content to a member once they rebill right?

So out of 3 sets for example..

    Month 1 = 1 set
    Month 2 = 2 sets
    Month 3 = 3 sets

If you joined at month 2, you would still only see the set from month 1.

its WAY cheaper to keep an existing member rebilling than it is to attract a new member. Therefore, you should give more incentives to keep your existing members.

Let's say you already paid for a one-year subcription to Knitt 1, Pearl 2 Quarterly, or the latest action packed sewing rag, Thread The Needle, or th@ oh so boring NY Times thingy:
I can just imagine it now ... *raising finger so to queue the magical harp* ... each time the new edition arrives, it is accompanied by an additional bill.

Wuh, there's new material in each edition.

*unholstering pistol & aiming @ foot*
    BOOM!
    *hobbling around*

Uh, in theory, they should be paying the same price (based on what most advertisements state), each month, or better yet less, preferrably after a certain period ... say the 3rd, 6th, 9th & 12th month. Yah now, something to string 'em along or to look forward to.

Sorry, but th@ strategy makes little to no sense.

Discounts for devotion or dedication ... now TH@ makes sense, and will most likely allow one to continue to make cents.

Yes I am. And are you aware that there are also new sites that they can join as well that will offer more than waht you are saying. And you did NOT mention that you are using the NATS cms and using that feature.

Even still, it's a dumb idea.

NEW SITE = 200 New photosets
    50 New Videos
Probably by the time you are done with them at half the cost!

No... You shouldn't. they wont pay it.

You are charging them a low ENTRY price to see your content and hopes that they will become a full member. Then you give them a better rate for a 30 day membership. A BETTER rate. If you have a 3 day trial, and you rebill at $3 every 3 days, that's $90 a month. That's why the sytem of after the initial price they pay, you go down in price. Either by offering a monthly membership at the same price (that is less than if they kept rebilling the trial) or a loyalty discount.

Loyalty discounts work very well. I have stats on that.

Lets screw the surfer out of everything we can. Maybe there are enough ididots out there that will fall for it.

Ok. But there are CMS's that you can do that with as well.
