    Do surfers read - discuss!

Basicly i dont get enough enough emails (yeah right!) so i try to think up ways to get gww to mail me.

So heres what im wondering. Other than story sites which obviously wont apply, do surfers read your sites. Like the text on the front end, the text in text links etc etc.

I spend ages trying to think of what to write then wonder if anyone reads it. Are they just looking for dick or do they read the sales blurb to see more about what there getting. how important is text?

(this is a thread that the adorable max cant turn bad . he is quite cute though?)

yes, surfers read. i have been paid to edit the text on many tours and there has always been a change in joins. 15 - 20% is common although it's been only 10% on sites that were already written in clear english and that didn't use wrong terms. one group of sites saw over 20% but their text was just awful *LOL*

i've also written text for people whose sites didn't have much text originally and on a couple we saw over 30% increase in joins.

a site can use text to give a more personal feeling for surfers or it can use text to add a hardcore shock effect. both of these are time-tested methods to increase surfer interest and joins.

important tip here: do NOT use a bunch of hardcore text with a bunch of softcore pics. do NOT use great text talking about 18 year old boys with pics of 30 year old studs. the pics and the text and the videos on a tour have to sort of match.

and guess what - members read, too! you can increase the retention on a site simply by adding profiles for each models and maybe a little text about each video.

btw, max has turned this discussion to shit before because all he had were personally theories where some of the rest of us have facts and statistics from actually trying things.

You see thats something im crap at - the model profiles! i just stick pics and videos in my members area but your right, giving info and a full profile lets the member think there getting to know the model and could really help retention.

I guess you have to go carefull with that though. I know that 90% of porn is untrue but if the surfer has seen that pic before and you make up a different profile to what hes seen, u blow the whole site.

I personally don't read site text but google does. And that's enough of a reason for me to write text.

if it's content from ounique or maxpixels, why not use the model's actual stage name? then you can find out more about each model once you have the stage name by googling him.

otherwise make it up. you may lose the members "in the know", but you will retain those who aren't.

just keep it very realistic. the more believable, the better.

You bet they read -- even if its porn they're surfing.

Most will scan for keywords that personally hit them to see if they're interested or what you have is important to them. They'll also scan for keywords to tell them what to do.

I've personally observed oodles of people stare at a page looking for some text or link or something that tells them what to do next.

As for bios, profiles and stories about a shoot; those are important to help build the fantasy otherwise all you have is a bunch of pretty pictures or video clips -- so what.
