WASHINGTON - The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is warning consumers that sexual enhancement drugs bought online contain dangerous ingredients.

In a statement issued recently, the agency warned the public not to purchase or consume erectile dysfunction drugs dubbed Zimaxx, Libidus, Neophase, Nasutra, Vigor-25, Actra-Rx or 4Everon.

The agency said that the products contain ingredients in a number of FDA-approved prescription drugs that could result in negative interactions with heart medications that that contain nitrates and lower blood pressure to dangerous levels.

Zimaxx, for instance, contains sildenafil, which is the active ingredient in Viagra, the prescription drug for erectile dysfunction manufactured by Pfizer.

But other such drugs contain chemicals similar to those used in other prescription drugs made to treat erectile dysfunction.

“Consumers with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol or heart disease often take nitrates,” the agency wrote.

“ED (Erectile dysfunction) is a common problem in men with these conditions and they may seek products like the ones noted above because these products claim that they are ‘all natural’ or that they do not contain the active ingredients used in FDA-approved ED drugs.”

I wonder if this will have a knock-on effect with other types of penis pill purchases online?
