2257 Hypothetical Question

Let's assume the 2257 inspectors decided to visit a studio....

And they derived the address of the studio from the 2257 information on their latest video release...

And that address was a PMB or PO Box...

what would they do?

they don't have distributors information, the information is fake, what are they going to do at that point?

they could easily get a warrant to talk to the processor, distributor, the host or sponsors (depending on where the studio was found - DVD or website) in order to find out who the person responsible for the website really is. they ARE the fbi and this person would be in violation of federal laws.

in most cases anything that is for sale can be traced through the money.

Or they could just ask the provider of the PMB for the box registrants information.

Or, being the FBI, they could look at the supposedly nonexistent terrorist database that has everything on everyone and find your address that way

and fwiw, my understanding is that it's illegal to list a PMB as a 2257 address, since it's not the actual place where you're conducting business. (I am not a lawyer, tho!)

THE PMB address is an actual address on a recent (since the new 2257 regs) release from a studio.

I bet they would then go to get a subpoena for the PMB box records..

Or just flash badges and ask....
