Do You Think New Programs With No History..

Are becoming more and more niave in their thinking that affiliates will just signup and send traffic?

I know several years ago there used to be very few gay programs i would signup for and send traffic to however, as of late, there seems to be more and more niche specific gay sites (and straight sites) hitting the web that are just expecting affiliates to signup to the program and send their traffic.

Do you think that new paysite owners these days are launching affiliate programs because they think potential affiliates will signup at the launch of the program and send traffic?

    Regards,

    Lee

I think webmasters join a affiliate program to promote a site they like and that fits with what they are wanting to do as well as paying them what they deserve. Most do not care if you have been around 10 years or 1 year, they want sites that will convert the best. I think some of the older programs get very complacent, and think just cuzz they have been around so long they can stay with that status quo, because they really see no need to do much more.

half the new programs i see in gay or straight are from guys who think they will make it rich easily in the internet. the sites are very poor and even the best of these are full of traffic leaks as well as very weird pricing, and the affiliate programs are laughable.

and since the owners haven't done their time learning various facets of the industry, they usually have poor or no banners, no fhgs, and a host of other issues.

You know, i kind of agree with you on this, although, i dont think not offering a full range of promo tools is always a bad thing it certainly does help but i would definately agree that program owners (and reps) should know at least a little about the way the industry works, i was talking to a rep a month or two back who didnt even understand why i wanted some content from them to use in my promotional materials... Like all i wanted was 'free porn' from them LOL

They just didnt seem to grasp the concept that if they have exclusive content on their site, as affiliates, we need to promote their site using the same content, not stuff we have purchased from providers.

Well I can see how some older exclusive content can been handed out, but not sure I would want to burn all my new exclusive content. Once you start handing out your exclusive content its not really exclusive anymore.

but you could give out 20 dressed and stripping pics with only 2 nude shots and not have given out the 80 masturbation pics that follow.

That is VERY true and probably would be what I would do, but people will need at least like 50 pics to make a site, and not just a pic post page. Of course they could put like 3 small preview sets together to make a small site, but I think semi-exclusive and non exclusive content has a big role to play in that area still.

Owning a fairly new program myself it’s interesting to read this thread.
I certainly didn’t start my program expecting affiliates to sign up overnight and I would get rich. That certainly wasn’t the plan, and I am not that delusional.

I wanted to start a pay site for over a year, but did not. The time wasn’t right. I ran my first pay site GlobeBoys.com for a few months before considering the formation of an affiliate program.

I do agree however there are lots of very small programs, clearly put together in a matter of days, that really are not up to scratch. A lot of these I see are Eastern European sites that don’t just lack in providing effective tools for marketing sites, but also in customer service and quite usually very badly written English.

What I do notice however is a lot of the newer programs, such as Zbuckz.com, are coming up with cracking ideas when it comes to new forms of marketing tools. The question I ask is WHY are the big guys not doing this? As previously said by MaxPower, I think these big programs become very complacent, and loose their way. Not all of them however, but some.

To sum things up, I like seeing new and fresh sponsors, with new sites, and new approaches, but I think there are a good few sponsors out there who haven’t found the right means to succeed.

dude, if you offer 20 sets of 20 pics, that certainly should allow members to make several sites or a stack of galleries.

non exclusive content is lame for a site like this unless it's very high quality vidcaps. after all, i can buy non exclusive content and promote any site i want - and i couldnt' help notice that most sites offering non exclusive content are offering VERY old non exclusive content, mostly shrunk down below a useable size.

I did say you could stack the sets to make a site out of them?

Now as far as providing semi-exclusive and non exclusive content for webmaster to help sell your site, I think it can really help allot of webmaster. After all most do not have all these sets already, and mainly want content cuzz they can not afford to much on their own. Of course the more advanced webmaster may have about all the semi-exclusive and non exclusive content around but they are a rare bread “whales” if you want to use a gaming term. Now going after whales with exclusive content is a good idea, but is more for programs in their 2-3 year if you ask me.

Not sure why anyone would provide really low quality images like you talk about, but I can see that being a total waste.

But again low quality content can be used very effectively if you know what you are doing.

Fair point there mr Bjorn, but do these sponsors want to miss out on the freesite builders as affiliates ? I really dont think they do.

But the main point of these Eastern European sponsors, is a lot of them scare me, and scare a lot of other webmasters! They all seem to be into twink, and an 18 year old can only look SO young :uhoh:

I actually signed up for a new program a week ago and got an email that said my account would need to be approved. Well needless to say it has been about 2 weeks and still no approval. One thing is for sure if you are going to put up a program and give shity support you aren't going to gain many webmasters.

This discussion of giving away too much pic content is interesting. The vast majority of our members use the video, pics are going by the wayside now with higher connection speeds. We have even considered posting all our pics in the free area. Personally, I have not jacked off to a set of pics in a very long time, and if I am surfing for free porn on TGPs, I only click on movie galleries.
