Webmasters Who Behave Like Surfers - What Are Your Thoughts?

By that i mean those webmasters who seem to be active in the adult industry but, whenever the chance arises, they ask to see 'naked pics' of their reps or others that they interact with on a regular basis.

Do you think the boundaries between webmaster/surfer are starting to blur?

It also seems to be a lot more prevalent at the tradeshows, you see webmasters hanging around the models like little puppy dogs waiting to be stroked in and effort to 'get laid' or, worse yet, they spend the whole show trying to find their next 'fuck buddy'.

So what do you think, are the boundaries between how webmasters and surfers behave, especially in what is supposed to be a business enviroment, being blurred with each passing month and, if you think they are, why do you think that has started to happen over the last couple of years?

    Regards,

    Lee

    Lee,

This is nothing new. It's just a little more open and you see it better.

But please define your thought a little better

webmaster A and webmaster B have a business relationship and one day Webmaster B says to webmaster A ... Jump onto your Cam real quick.

    Or

Webmaster A is working with a new affiliate whom requested Webmaster A's business. Webmaster A offers a better position on the front page if a little extra landed in the mailbox.

    Or

Webmaster A and Webmaster B swap model photos and video for private use

    Or

Jonny Whoever opens up an adult site because he thinks it will get him access to models he has been jacking off to for the last two months?

    Or

    ?

many webmasters decide to go into porn because they were surfers.

IdolKnights - try these. webmasters who attend conventions hoping to fuck models or to fuck another webmaster rather than seeing conventions as a way to advance their business.

as i think about this some more, i realize that over the years i have been asked on str8 boards to show my tits by webmasters who spend their entire day looking at tits. and several webmasters who wanted to trade traffic or do other business have asked me for pics - preferably topless.

and this is far from new.

my response when i want to be goodnatured is "i'm not content". i've replied to more insistant people by strongly suggesting that they fuck themselves. and with one exception, i've avoided those people afterward. i'm here to work.

Oh Lee we've had show your cock threads here on GWW and you've asked to see posters nude before so lighten up

I've never been to a show but sounds like I'm not missing much from your description and that's exactly why I haven't gone.

I have a hard enough time keeping the local guys off me, let alone a bunch of horny fellow webmasters at a show :innocent:

    Patti,

Both of the things you mentioned in your replies is what im talking about exactly.

Id never think of asking to see anyones tits or cocks and seriously expect to see them the problem is, there are webmasters who do just that, in addition to virtually stalking some models (male and female) at the shows in order to try and get laid like they are nothing more than pieces of meat.

Anothr thing im noticing more and more lately are webmasters that talk about using surfer sites to 'hookup' in all honesty, i dont care what these guys do in their private lifes, if you want to use online dating sites to find casual fuck buddies fine, but why do *I* have to be told about it?

    Regards,

    Lee

Seems to me that a LOT of webmasters seem to have that attitude. When we had 5 models at Internext 2005, it seemed like we spent a lot of time explaining to various webmasters that no, our models don't escort, and no, it's not OK to be fondling our models (unless the models are participating and having fun with it, which some did.)

Same thing with the webmasters who go around trying to impress the models with stories of how big and important they are (when they aren't), presumably to get in the model's pants. I previously told the story of a video producer who spent 20 minutes trying to impress AJ (who looks like he's 15 and could easily be a model) with how big his studio was and how he was the top selling twink producer... and when AJ finally opened his mouth and mentioned that he knew the info wasn't accurate because he knew the distributor in question and what they sell... and the guy was saying "Wow, I never heard of a company having its models do business deals" and AJ responded that he actually owns the company.... well, the guy sorta shut up and promptly left the room. I suspect because he was both embarrassed AND he realized he wasn't going to get in AJ's pants.

When we're at a convention, we want to have a good time and see our friends and make new ones... but we are primarily there to do business. One of the reasons the Phoenix Forum shows are my favorites is that the whole setup is to meet people and conduct business. Not to say that it's a bad thing for people to go just to party, but I'd much rather go out and party at home with friends than waste an opportunity to improve my business connections and create new opportunities.

Oh yeah it happens ALL the time at shows, i remember a few years back when we held the Gay Webmaster Bash at the Luxor we actually had people leaving because there were NO free drugs available for them LOL

I also had to get Chris to politely tell a couple of people that the bedrooms werent there so people could fuck.. They were there so people could relax if they wanted to.

Even then, we still found used cumrags on the floor once we closed the GWB suite down

    Regards,

    Lee

Many men are guilty of thinking with their lower heads and many of our breatheran seem to feel that our industry gives them liscence to do that and they do overtly.

Those that go to shows with an agenda to get good business conduct themselves accordingly and command the respect that goes with it. The ones that try to be the "Casinova" of the night or the consume so much to win the dubious distinction of being the last Sigma Chi standing at the keggar are many things indeed but one of them is not the person who you are going to want to do business with.

At the same time that all the shit goes on, it's *still* an unbeatable way to meet and get to know people in the industry, find new opportunities you might never have considered. and learn about what others are doing in the industry.

I've gotten an amazing amount of advice, suggestions, and ideas from conversations at the conferences, as well as made a lot of friends that I talk to all the time to bounce ideas off of.

Other things being equal, I would rather do business with someone I've had a chance to meet, talk to, and have a sense of who they are and how they conduct their business than someone I've only talked to over email. Of course there are exceptions, but you really can't beat the shows for the business opportunities. For us, it's just a matter of looking at them as opportunities to improve our business, not to party... but I know a lot of people who do both and are quite successful at it.

We were very seriously considering using the feeds of a certain company until two of the people involved came up to AJ and I separately, more than once that weekend, and started rubbing their dicks up against us or otherwise behaving totally inappropriately. We made it clear each time that this wasn't OK. (They were both amazingly drunk the entire time.) Finally, one of them asked AJ "Why aren't you signing up for our feeds?" while attempting to rub his dick against AJ's ass. And AJ turned around, looked at him, said "Because of your behavior. That's why." and walked away.

And maybe that behavior is OK for some people. If the receiving party doesn't mind, who cares? But if you're going to behave that way, you should have a good idea if the person whose business you're courting will appreciate the behavior. That sort of behavior, in our case, made it pretty clear they weren't going to get our business.
