    Newb needs feedback

    Hey all,

I dont know how often yall get hit up for this stuff, but I feel some of the best ways to do things is to hear it right out. So I was wondering what you guys would suggest to make IWantU.Com more "gay-friendly".

I mean we have a designer & our programmers working on our stuff now, but I thought it might be good to ask around & see if I can get stuff implimented into the drafts we're doing...

thoughts????? or am I just being a pain in the ass ;p

no reason to believe that a str8 designer would have a clue how to make something gay friendly. usually str8 designers who do that make things rather rainbow-y or pink - which is NOT gay friendly in my book.

why not make it people friendly? failing that, pay someone to help you with this - someone with a lot of marketing experience.

Yeah we had that talk already & worries about having "rainbow" site I mean Ive seen some done before that we actually kinda cool.. but I know thats something we said we wanted to avoid etc.. & I know we spoke about bringing someone in, just to be honest not sure where that has gone.

What about features though? I mean would there be any features maybe more interesting to a gay audience rather than straight?

To me, I would want to see all female images removed.

Not to be anti-female but with XXX number of gay hook up now sites on the market already filled with XXX number of members - Why would the sight of a woman make me think the site was made for me?

From your center text bar under the buttons "Meet Single Men and Women in Now!" <- What?

And what about those looking for couples?

"Adult Dating Personals. Live out your sexual fantasies and discover a new playmate "

Playmate sounds like a Straight guys dream.

" If you are looking for a one night stand or a casual encounter, then the Adult Club is where the game is played." - WORD DAWG!

Gay guys don't "Game play" They just fcuk

Not to come off wrong but a lot of the site would need to be changed and if you are already doing well in the straight market... why change?

But I think you could change to a lesbian, bi girl, straight girl/guy site without much work.

Thanks I totally know what you mean.. that site there is our current site which is our straight site. We haven't released our gay/lesbian sites yet. We know we have to change that stuff for sure.

Thing is right now, thats where gay/lesbian/swingers/alt/ (basically you name it) go. With 3 main "sub divisions" dating.iwantu / adult.iwantu and alt.iwantu

So we are aware that things need to be changed to the look and feel. & I was just trying to get maybe a taste or idea of anything in particular I could point our team towards etc.. but believe me I (and our team) are VERY aware that our site needs to be enhanced for this launch.

want to know how to make a gay/lesbian friendly site? by not doing anything special. we're all people - treat us like people. we don't need pink and rainbow to make us feel at home. in fact, when done by a str8 company, that just feels condescending to me.

just take ALL females and female references off the gay pages and all men off the lesbian pages. don't use the word "gays" - gay men are called men or guys just like straight men. and for that matter, lesbians are women - you don't have to keep telling people what their sexual orientation is as they are already aware of that.

if you don't have an experienced text writer who works with gay and str8 programs, avoid any special wording at all. that'll help you avoid the pitfalls other programs have made.

You do realize by 'gay' I mean a man who has sex with other men?

The other really good option you have Jeff...

Get your designer to come up with a concept and post it on GWW and ask for feedback on the concept itself.

That way, the people that are ultimately going to be marketing the site will be able to tell you what they need to see on the site for it to make them money

I know a couple of companies have done that before and were really happy with the feedback and ultimate results they got from the surfers

    Regards,

    Lee

You see now this is what i was talking about in the "do avs's give a shit about us" thread, why cant they do this? ask for help and feed back?

I agree with everything said here. Especially the word gays, makes me leave straight away.

Dont have much to add but good luck with it, your doing your homework so you should do well.
