NEW YORK - Porn star Michael Lucas will be in Israel from August 29 to September 4 acting "as both a war correspondent and a source of entertainment" according to a press release issued by his company, Lucas Entertainment, earlier today.

"In the tradition of American USO-style shows," the release stated, "Lucas will provide scores of Israeli soldiers with an opportunity to enjoy a live sex show." On Friday, September 1, Lucas will appear with Lucas Entertainment star Jack MacCarthy in a performance at Male VOX in Tel Aviv.

"Hopefully, I can bring excitement where it is needed most. During times of war, outlets for sexual energy and expression are bleak, let alone moments for celebration. I look forward to bringing gay men together, and I will work hard to put on the greatest show for them," said Lucas.

The trip marks Lucas' fourth time performing live sex shows in Israel. His travels will be documented on camera as he speaks to the people "most impacted by the war. He will travel to the most devastated areas of the country and interview people one-on-one."

"People need to see the faces of war, and I plan to shed light on the world where gay Israel exists," said Lucas. "I will expose the reality that the people of Israel face right now, especially that of gay Israelis who are targeted by the hate of Hezbollah. In Israel there is no 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' insanity that plagues the American military, so there are many out soldiers. I plan to provide a window to the world showing those who fight for freedom and Western ideals."

An American citizen since 2004, Lucas grew up gay and Jewish in Russia. "I am no stranger to homophobia and anti-semitism. I come from Soviet Russia where homosexuality was a crime and Jews are treated as second-class citizens. Israel is the most special place in the world to me, and my home away from home," Lucas said. "The country and its people are very close to my heart. Every day I am glued to the television and all I want to do is be there."

I just dont see any reason why any company should be profiting from this war where thousands of people died. Im not exactly sure what 'help' having some talent walking around is going to be either.

this story was published on Raw Story and other media outlets will probably pick it up too as it is rather controversial.

So it's nothing more than a stunt for him to make money

Hey, more power to him and I hope he has fun.

However, at the same time, I feel that some of his comments trivialize war and conflict and the suffering and devastation it involves.

Sure, some individuals might get enjoyment and pleasure out of checking his shows out while he's there, but to suggest that what he's going to do might in any way offset the impact of war on a grand scale or even have any relevance within the context of war is pretty irrational, I feel.

And soldiers and people in war zones need entertainment. Smiles and sex are always good.

I do wish him well and a safe journey.

However, he needs to realize that all is not rosey for gay soldiers in Israel or gays in Israel period. I think he needs to check out some recent news.
