Promoting a Sponsors Niche your are "not into"

I was looking at a list of new FHG's from a sponsor, and honestly had a hard time trying to go through them, because they were not "my type" of guys.

I know it should be considered just a job (unless your website is built on a specific theme where these do not fit), but how often do you push yourself to include galleries that you personally consider "unpalatable" ?

i've only had 2 niches i taught myself to find more palatable. i suggest you find egroups where you can read surfers who are into the niche talk about it. often understanding makes niches less unpalatable.

I don't think there's anything wrong with not wanting to promote material you don't personally find interesting.

Granted, as it is a business you do want to maximize earning potential and it very well may be the case that the material that has the potential to earn you the greatest revenues is stuff you don't find interesting in the least.

But at the same time, it can't hurt to promote stuff you have a personal interest in because that personal interest, familiarity with and awareness of the content will come across in the manner in which you promote it and the enthusiasm and energy you put in to it, be apparent to your surfers, and do well for you revenue-wise.

I do from time to time take “unpalatable” themes too me and change them to something I can deal with or even funny/light hearted in some ways. But my system now and in the future uses Twinks only, not to say I do not push what can be done with this but that is always my starting point. I have NP with anyone promoting any legal content that will convert for them, but again if it turns my stomach “Hard-Core Bondage” “Cross Dressing” “I will stop before I piss someone off” I will not do it.

I meant more of a "type of guy" than niche.

Here we go again if you are making the sites make what you want, but if you are running a directory you could include all types of legal guys regardless if you hate Bears or Twinks, now I would not add way to many Bears personally to a directory unless that is the market you are going after will say twink stuff is more mainstream in that way.

you find a type of guy unpalatable?????

or are you just not particularly interested?

i've been promoting porn for over ten years and i don't even like porn - but i have worked to learn what works, what doesn't, what people like about certain types of guys or niches.

i used to hate how uncut cocks look but i worked enough to understand what people liked about them and then they seemed a lot less weird to me. the result is i made a fair amount of money with good ol' uncut cocks

same with hairy pussy, transvestite, girls with freckles, grannies and grandpas. all niches i found i personally had no connection with but i leaned each one well enough to not only recognize good from bad but also the various shades of good - what makes good grandpa from so-so grandpa - the best selling terms and the fantasies that sold those niches the best.

Both the MaxPower and CorbinFisherBD types, I love to promote.

I was trying to avoid giving examples as its a matter of personal choice and don't want to offend anyone, but here was what I was looking at that put me off

As you said, its a matter of learning what works

Well ya I do not like that stuff too, but will say it works good with the theme on the page. If you have traffic or content to go with it I see NP with it man. I am not going to be like some that use their personal preferences to dictate what they and everyone else should do. IF you have bear or older men sites I would put it in, or if you have a TGP or something could not hurt to throw a few in the mix, now not sure if I would go out of my way to create sites just to run that, but like I said does look like it would work ok to me.

It's hard for me to promote niches that I'm not into, but I'm getting better at it. I find it helpful if I sit for a minute and sort of meditate on the guy and try to put myself in the mindset of someone who likes this type of guy. But it's definitely hard. Sometimes I can bang out copy fairly easily, other times, I just have to trash the guy and move onto something else.

I do find that I'm much more successful at converting on sites where I'm interested in the content. I guess my interest or disinterest, whatever the case may be, comes through in the copy no matter how hard I try.

Although it is not the exact same scenario (include galleries), I'd say that I push myself (to work with things not so palatable) everyday!

Hardcore (extreme or not) content is a prime example: I truly do not like working on the stuff, daily!
    Same goes for "partying" content.

I'd rather look at, &/or work on, things beautiful, or "erotic" - I prefer artsie nude stuff.
