Ideal image sizes for paysite?

I am re-doing all my image galleries in my paysites.

What width and height to you choose when you make the large images for a paysite?

And yes, 1024px on the long side is good.

I've already made my decision, for better or worse.

The site itself will be 1024 wide, with a left column about 200 px, leaving around 800 px for content. I want the slideshow to play inside the template of the site without having to do too much scrolling to see the whole picture.

So that means the largest horizontal images will be about 800.

How does that sound?

Sounds like the majority of users will have a great experience on the site.

no, bec - actually my pics are 1042 because of the way i shrink them using percentages.

Andrew - we don't have sample pics on our current tour, but if we did, we'd make 'em full size to impress surfers.

LavenderLounge - sounds a little small, but not as small as fratmen or other sites that do just fine.

funny thing - straight sites are going to bigger and better quality pics all the time. a lot of truly premium sites like sapphicerotica and ftvgirls offer their pics in multiple sizes, the largest being 2000 or 3000 pixels on the large side yet gay surfers are lucky to get even 400x600 half the time.

they open in the same window in a template with your header and stuff? or just the pic itself? if inside your template, what size do you have your site made for?

Yes, the image will open in the same template with the header and left column. At a maximun 800 wide, it fits nicely in the 1024 wide template.

My site is currently designed for 600x800, with pictures only going 600 wide maiximum. The new design will be a step up.
