I found the comments particularly interesting, especially if you mentally replace "music" with "porn" ...

    Hack fixed

Although nothing is 100%...looks like our friends at Microsoft just sent an update for the evil hacker tool....

    -------------------
"On August 25th, 2006, Engadget.com reported on a software tool that would allow consumers to decrypt WMDRM protected content. In response, on August 28, 2006, Microsoft released an update to the individualized blackbox component (IBX) designed to ensure that client applications using the Windows Media Format SDK version 9.5 who individualize to this latest version are robust against a new circumvention tool.

This update is not yet available for the Windows Media Format 9 Series FSDK or for users of Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 Update Rollup 2.

Consumers are not at risk in any way. Content services can require that the updates be present in order to issue licenses by following the instructions below. Please note that the version number of IBX was not incremented as part of these updates to avoid delaying the release of these critical breach mitigations. Consequently, the only way to determine if the update is installed is to query the build number of the IBX. This requires code executing on the client."

    ----------

If anyone needs the full email or attached document just email me.
Of if you need an help with your DRM server update let me now.

JESUS! Why don't people just pay for their porn? Lol. Just think of all of the time these cheap bastards would save and all of the hassles they would avoid if they just parted with a few dollars every month.

I just don't get it... never did.

    Thank goodness for hackers

Okay..we have another update for those DRM users out there.
After spending the week doing some updates and digging into the stuff the hackers gave us I have more information to share. (thank goodness for hackers...they always help make the system more secure in the long run).

We all know that they used the Media Format SDK violating the license agreement (had to say this first).

In order to make the tool to work user have to have license obtained for the
media. It is not possible simply to download protected file and strip DRM
protected form it. The license is needed to do this. If the user have
updated his player to secure version then the tool would work.

Extended the media player and DRM versions check in order to prevent
license issuing for compromised versions of DRM storage.

Refuse to issue licenses for Server 2003 systems as well as for beta versions of Vista, Win98 and Millennium Edition.

    For WinXP/2000 we request:

. Media Player 9 with DRM version 3288 or greater

. Media Player 10 with DRM version 3802 or greater

. Media Player 11 with DRM version 5042 (Beta 2) or greater

Then we added soem client side code and prepared an Active X on our license acquisition page that checks client storage version.

In case this helps anyone running their own DRM servers.
Again, if you need help or want more information let me know. We have to share this kind of stuff.
