Very interesting, thanks for sharing. My own view is that what makes some people gay is probably a mixture of alot of factors.

When reading this stuff, you need to first ask whos paying for the research. Ive found that alot of right wing groups pay for this type of research to proove how evil we are, while gay groups pay for it to proove how normal we are. Only if its truly independent can the research be taken seriously imo.

I also tell people who have just come out and want to know why were gay, that it doesnt really matter. Nice to know but at the end of the day knowing wont change us, nor should it.

    Great read though.

The "gay" twin boy Adam isn't gay. If he is truly gay then he will grow up to be the gayest man ever! Lol. He seems more like a transgender male to me. He even wishes that he was born a girl.

the thing with that is that he said "im like a girl" then shrugged his shoulders when asked why. seems to me like people have been telling him hes like a girl and hes picked up on that. otherwise its seems an odd thing for a kid to say.

Regardless of what he's been told about himself by others, his behaviour is WAY beyond gay! Lol.

I used to play Barbies with my sister but at least I had my Big Jim and GI Joe Dolls. I never identified with that nelly queen Ken. I guess that's where I got my preference for extremely masculine men.

Real interesting article Ken thanks for that

I can see a future where they know what causes homosexuality. I see mothers carrying children and being careful of what they eat, and taking special supplements, to ensure they don't have a homosexual child. In that future I can also see some mothers carrying children and being careful of what they eat, and not taking special supplements, because they already have 2.3 heterosexual children and now want a child that's unique. Imagine a world where the only way to have a homosexual child is by choice. How special and unique we will be then, the chosen ones.

Not to be a troll or anything, but ... a bunch of :jerkoff:s, is what I think of that - am I the only one sick of these "studies".

They ever stop to think that it could be something as simple and pure as one's "preference".
It sadly seems a person, now a days, cannot make a choice with out it being analyzed.

No! I am not trying to be difficult (it just happens). I am simply confused as to why it is everybody feels, and believes, they MUST KNOW what makes people tick.

Does one really need to find a reason, or excuse, for what they've become or are?

To the "researchers" I suggest doing studies on why some chose to succumb to what others think they should be - people waiting for others to tell them who they are to be and how to get there.

Or maybe I should act like all the other clones (of society), because being different is apparently a sickness, mental illness or disease, which needs to be dissected and researched so to find a cure.

No! It is not to help THEM understand.
It's to help them be at ease by knowing THEY are not responsible for the "error" - they are not at fault for your/our defects.

But that is just how I look at those studies.

If anything, these little "studies" tell me I am not doing "things" correctly.
    Oh yah, I have:
    -three older brothers
    -one older twin
    -one older sister
    ...and was:
    -fatherless for a decade
    -raised by mom & sis

    So, what is my illness?
Oh, yah ... THAT must be why I smoke cheeba; love the cold and hate the heat; love the gr8 outdoors & telemarking (the least popular choice of skiing).

he he he this study might be real goof for some heterosexuals, stopping at the third boy for fear of the 4th being gay

I can see paranoid straight women clamering for a man around the house to make sure their boys don't turn out queer.

The funny thing about all this is there seems no reason at all whatsoever for Lesbians, and guess what, the straight community doesn't seem all that concerned about Lesbians... now I wonder why that would be? Perhaps straight men enjoy lesbian sex and their masculinity isn't threatened by a Lesbian as it's threatened by a Gay man :cheerleader:

I think it's a load of bullocks, to be honest.

No boy says "I'm like a girl" unless they have been told that they're like a girl by adults.

Besides, being gay isn't being "like a girl". I mean, I don't think I look like a girl and I'm still 100% pure homo.

You know, I really don't think it is bollocks. Now, of course my 2 cents is anecdotal.... but in my previous life this present deviate used to teach preschool. I became good friends with a few of these families.... and I am now old enough to have followed some of these kids into adult hood.....

And I swear to god, I pegged a few 1 and 2 year olds as gay or lesbian, well before they could even form cogent sentences.

One of my closest then baby now grown up gay boys exibited ALL the behaviors as this kid in the story. At 2 he preferred girl dolls. At 4 he got in trouble for stealing his sisters clothes. At 6 he announced his intention to be either an astronaut or a hairdresser. At 9 he was convinced he was a girl.

At 11 he had to be pulled out of the San Francisco school district because other kids were beating him up.

An now, at 22 he is the most handsome, well adjusted, moderately masculine and incredibly beautiful gay man I have had the pleasure of knowing.

I know that in some ways these studies are annoying.... but I think they are important. The reason? Because we need to move people past the notion that this is a lifestyle choice, that who we are is who we are born to be.

And I don't think these studies will move women to change thier behavior or to genetically modify thier babies.... because in my experience, women don't give a damn about the sexual orientation of thier kids. And most parents of gays actually DO come around (even the most adamant bigots tend to change thier tune when they get to know a gay person, particularly one they love) - Yeah - some parents reject thier kids. But those nasty people will reject them for being gay, or refusing to follow in the family footsteps, or for doing drugs or getting pregnant or for any other show of non conformity.

Just my early morning 3 and a half Eurocents.

I've brought this topic at another board. I noticed real quickly just how homophobic the members were/are. I informed them of the fact that "homosexuality" refers to not only men, but also WOMEN, and was met with so much ridicule. Surprisingly, it was not only males that had issues with my statement. Many of the bi-sexual females seemed to be really upset with (their choices in life) being called a homosexual.

So to be nice, I broke the word down, to allow them to see what is clear.
(I was just as floored at how many of them did not know what 'homo-' or 'hom-' means --- of course, they all knew what 'sexual' means.)

Gee, this must mean women (still) aren't equal.

I take my comment back, about the quality & viability of the study or report - it (the study) helps some people so it does serve some good.

I think studies like these are important. Any study on human physiology is important. And as soon as they prove without a shadow of a doubt what the rest of us already know to be true (that the vast majority of us were born gay), then hopefully we can FINALLY have some fucking peace in the world and get some goddamn equal rights amendments in place. Right?

Studies about the origin of homosexuality are HUGELY important to our civil rights. WE don't need the studies to validate ourselves, but sadly, the rest of the world does. It's like Brokeback Mountain. A lot of gay people hated it. But it wasn't really for us to begin with. We don't need to be taught a lesson about how bad societal oppression and homophobia is, but the rest of the world does.

A lot of us who are out and who have been out for a long time... it must be said... we live in a bubble. We're OUT damn it, and we develop this sense of entitlement and this sense of liberation that comes from living in cities where there are a lot of gay people. We want our equal rights NOW, damn it, and we dismiss anyone who doesn't see it the way we do. But we have to think outside "the gay box" and take into consideration that the rest of the world -- sadly -- is just not as evolved and self-aware as we are.
