We'e finally getting ready to launch a weekly mailing of promo photos for BearFilms.com. Each set would include full-size hardcore images of our newest model, along with a short description/story about the model. We would include a variety of images, though no cumshots.
The question is, how many photos should we include? Is 5 or 6 enough? Or do we need to offer more?
What's your experience or opinion?
I recommend to include enough pics for an affiliate to make a gallery... in the neighborhood of 15 pics for each model. That's what we do.
Who are you sending this mailing to and what is its purpose?
Are you sending it to affiliates? Publications? Surfers?

Sorry I wasn't clear. It's for affiliates. So you know, we generally have about 75 photos for each model on our site.
I would still do 12-16 pics each but I would try to have 1/2 to 2/3 of them be clothed/partial nudity... no bigger than 750px on the long side and have your url stamped/watermarked in the corner.
5 or 6 isnt good enough for me. i do avs sites. the avs wants 40 pics minimum. the link lists that send good traffic are starting to ask for 50 minimum. i make this up by mixing sets so that i can do a few sites, all using the same content but in a different mix so i dont piss of the avs and get dumped to the bottom of their link list. its seems to work.
15 is fine but 20 is better. it also depends on how many sets you have. 4 sets at 15 pics each is enough for me to do one site. i cant keep repeating as ill start to get dumped at the bottom of the list, that doesnt help me and if im not earning your not (through me at least).
i agree with xstraight guy about the fully clothed thing. i find these sets convert better, i guess its the tease eliment.
remember us avs webmasters, not every affiliate does tgp. also avs traffic a) has a credit card, b) has used that card to access porn in the last year and c) is proably piss bored of avs porn by now. therefore imo you cant design your affiliate program excluding avs affiliates.
I agree with Marc completely... AVS traffic is definitely worth an extra investment in free pics as it converts so well. Most of my experience is in AVS so I have a soft spot in my heart for AVS webmasters.
But as a new paysite owner/operator I also realize that you have to limit your exposure or else you devalue your content.
Striking a fair balance can be difficult especially with smaller pic sets. Andy, maybe you can have your photographer(s) start shooting larger sets with more filler (clothed pics).
ill be straight up with you xstraight guy, im going to have problems in this very area with your site. because i dont have content that fits your niche, mine are boys, yours are men.
its tough for you guys, you have very precious exclusive content that you cant devalue or you loose what makes your site work. but you need good webmasters to promote your site.
i think you need to get good affiliates, not just any affiliate who will publish your content and make you fuck all in return.
the problem is how do i proove to programs that im a sale kind of webmaster if i dont have the content to make the sales to begin with?

Oh no problem! I understand completely. I have the same problem trying to sell twinks to my surfers... it's just not possible.
I used to create packages of 20, or so.
Most need the content for submitting (TGP'ing), and require that magic number (15+). I simply decided to give webmasters (WM) the ability to chose the amount, as well which images they want.
Now, I just give usernames and passwords and let them collect what they think will convert.
That way no other WM will have the same package.
Plus, it saves me time!
if you need 40 pics for an avs site, just use 3 15-pic sets of 3 guys. that's what i always did and it worked great.

Thanks everyone. I chatted with my bosses and I think we'll go with 12-15, but mostly clothed or semi-naked. We shoot all of our own content and we always make sure we have lots of tease pics anyway.
