    selling your site ?

Have you ever thought of selling your web based business? How would you do it?
I was thinking about that the other day. Eventually I would want to move on from CBL but how would I sell it? And what would I sell? It’s a combination of web presence and computer hardware and proprietary systems. I cant imagine putting it up on regular business for sale places “ for sale twink porn site”

    Just pondering.

In mainstream you would sell it as a package.

Product, Customer information (account history, contact and billing), Software licenses on most ware are not transferable, Hardware if it’s a part of the business unless excluded from the package. Phone and Fax lines, .com’s and what ever else you have as a driver to make the business work.

I would think the adult market would be the same. Anything tangible would be agreed upon by you and the buyer or you set a price with and without items.

You can sell the Debt too

I've heard that to sell a site, with content, you calculate the last six months sales, and that's the sell price. Not sure if that's accurate, or standard though.

I heard 6-12 months just depending but sites have been sold for over 12 months before.

When i sold my online book store in the UK several years ago i actually had the business appraised by a licensed accountant.

From what i recall, the sales price took in to account a lot of factors that i wouldnt have even thought about including:

    Actual assets (stock and equipment)
    Previous earnings from the company.
Market pricing for similar businesses to mine.
Future earnings based on residual clients i had. (This is specifically important to those of us looking to sell 'recurring' membership based sites, if you have 1000 active recurring members at $29.95 a month, you dont sell the site based purely on previous sales figures!).

So far as finding buyers, the absolute best type of buyer you can find is one who runs a site similar to the one you are looking to sell, someone who can incorporate your existing business in to their long term business plan with ease. In the case of CBL for example, you would want to contact all the other cam houses and feed providers, gay and straight.

So far as 'what' you sell, you sell your company name and its assets, after you have tried liquidating some of the assets yourself, i would presume you have cameras, hard drives, computers, etc laying around, liquidate these before getting your companies appraised value

    Regards,

    Lee
