Is the U.K. going through a total crackdown on porn at the moment?

I'm seeing article after article about arrests and a new bill out to stop violent and extreme porn.

    Just a couple:

Gay community protests violent porn bill

    Couple arrested in porn raid

So are we seeing a total crackdown in the U.K. porn industry? Anyone else have more info or knowledge about this?

Anyone happen to have a link or a resource that clearly lays what the UK views as legal / illegal content (I know that "violent" and "obscene" are vague terms but a dissection of their laws is what I am really hoping to find)..

this seems to be about selling r18 dvds and videos. from what i tell thats more due to the fact that r18's must be sold from licensed sex shops only.

You do realize by 'gay' I mean a man who has sex with other men?

This all started years ago when Jack Straw got given a government position in the UK.

So far as the 'laws' on what you can and cant promote, the best advice ive seen (other than talk to an attorney) is to follow the BBFC guidelines.

To be honest, as long as you're not pushing the limits it's fine in the UK.

The only major thing the police are cracking down on right now is the ikon(?) cartoon drawings... Because they're viewing it the same as kiddie porn.

As for the violence, it's always been illegal to sell r18 vids without a license so nothings new, it just made the news because some girl died and their family complained.

Thankfully we're nowhere near as strict as the USA just yet :sunny:
