I Wonder? 2257 and mature models

    Hey everyone.

I know the law is the law and the webmaster have to have papers proving all models are over 18. I manage a site with nude and clothed pics of men all over 30, years of age, most 35 to 55 and clearly look it, no nudity on the front pages or tour, no sex pics inside just pics of mature men clothed and nude. DO you think they are really going to spend their resources going after this site. It clearly has no young models in it and doesn't promote the young boyish look in any way whatsoever. Is it really worth losing sleep over it if I dom't have all the papers in order.

    Anyone have thoughts about this?

imo they seem to go after younger model sites from what ive read, but if you dont have the required docs and are in the usa then its a dangerous gamble your taking. you need to seek legal advise if this is the case. i wouldnt risk it myself.

if you don't do the 2257 thing, you are risking jail - 5 years or more.

if they were only looking for cp, you'd be safe but this law is not really about protecting minors. if they go looking for sites that violate the record-keeping parts of the law, i'd think they'd check your site early on as mature sites are a lot less likely to worry about 2257. and remember, supposedly they told one guy they're looking to inspect every site. is it true? who knows, but it was the original intent of the law.

i pulled my mature men site down on june 22 2005 along with all related content. it just wasn't worth the risk to me but you may feel differently.

agreed! , 2257 is not just about protecting minors , it's also a way the goverment looks for the "FBI 10 most wanted" and/or people legal to work in the U.S , by keeping records of all models regardless of sex/age/etc. you are reporting to the goverment that you are not "harboring" any criminals should they find that one of your models is a known felon/terrorist.
i personally have always kept records for the simple fact of proving that all content produced using a certain model was lawfully obtained and signature released by the model for distribution by me.

We were basically advised that, under 2257, the model is assumed to be under 18 even if they are 65+.

I would VERY HIGHLY recommend having all of your content properly documented according to 2257, including crossreferencing and other information. It's not worth risking jail time.

nycbull - years ago a friend of mine was a bartender in a strip club. the police came in one night and checked i.d. for all the employees and patrons. a 55 year old man had failed to bring his drivers license out with him that evening and EVERYONE in the club was taken to jail.

do yourself a favor - organize your i.d.s.

2257 applies to any sexually explicit content, so even if your models are clearly legal age you MUST have your records in order. If the DOJ does compliance checks on all producers like they have threatened to do, then I suggest contacting a bail bondsman and a good adult defense lawyer now if you think having mature models shields you from compliance requirements.

BTW. I don't do criminal defense work but I can refer you after you bond out.
