BananaGuide Relaunches Gay Site Reviews
Toronto - September 27, 2006
BananaGuide.com, a leading gay adult portal, has launched a completely revised and expanded version of its membership site reviews.
Online since 2000, BananaGuide was the first gay-oriented website to provide honest, objective reviews of adult sites. While previously BananaGuide only reviewed sites which its editors found to offer excellent quality content the new policy is to review a site as long as it offers original content. While before sites were not rated, the new reviews rate sites on 11 different criteria for a total score out of 100.
More than 25 new site reviews have been added to BananaGuide and a new review will be published once a week for the foreseeable future.
“The gay adult Web has evolved substantially in the past five years. There are more quality sites available now than ever before and BananaGuide is changing with the times,” said Trevor Hennig, president of BananaGuide parent Untangled Web Inc.
Some of the innovative features of BananaGuide’s new reviews include:
- hover-over definitions for technical terms.
- a Content Details page denoting the exact amount of video and images on the site, video formats, sizes and speeds, and all content-plug-ins.
- a “fairness” criteria whereby sites that mislead or provide inadequate information in their tours or engage in any other tactics considered unfair lose points.
- a “SafeRating” of High, Medium and Low indicates the degree to which a site protects its models through the appropriate use of condoms.
- links from site reviews to company and affiliate program information provide a high degree of transparency.
- companies that market several sites in which membership in one provides access to all, receive only a single review.
While the new reviews are primarily designed to offer as much information as possible to consumers they will also prove to be a valuable resource for adult companies researching their competitors.
