How Do You Use Hosted Promo Tools?

Im talking about things like hosted galleries, free sites, 404 pages, blog, tgps, etc etc?

Do you have a specific method of using such promo tools that you have found works well on your traffic sources or, do you try to use them as much as possible without actually having a 'tried and tested' method of using them?

The hosted promo tools (HPT) that I use are free hosted galleries (FHG), which are added to our freesites, so to help us generate extra earnings.

Aside from FHGs, I do not touch HPT (especially) as they tend to be softcore, which, from a marketing standpoint, I hate!
It is so hard to even find a sponsor that offers hardcore banners and ads, which I/we will host --- makes no sense, what so ever!
