As a site owner, are you sick of these mega sites?

Just like when you goto a local store vs a super mega mall, you get a different experience.

Are you sick of these mega sites trying to be everything to everyone? Do you think mega sites are like wanna be porn walmarts? Do you think they'll take over in the end?

Boutiques are dainty and cute, but it is the megalo-malls that give one access to everything they could possibly want, and more! They typically save time and money, and offer one more ideas or choices.

Sure, the Ma & Pa stores may be put out of business, but that is merely because a). they have decided to not adapt (refuse to change), AND b). the patrons that once frequented them no longer do, because they are with Wally now, because he offers it all!

Why waste money joining a pile of sites if/when you can get it all from one?

I spent too many years telling the people here, @ LC, that a lot of our male members are curious about cocks, so why not add a link to our big dick gay sites? They finally added it late this year and are noticing that a lot of the subscribers to our heterosexual big dick sites are travelling back and forth.

It's all about keeping them (members) with you, so would not offering them everything they could ever want not be a smart idea? (I think it is.

I am not saying I do not like solo sites ... as a consumer, but as a marketer, I'd make more with the megalos, always, so I love ‘em more!

The fact that I am a shopaholic whore (gear, clothes, shiny toys/trinket’s, drugs et cetera) could be why I like 'em so much.

The problem with most mega-sites is that they really can't be all things to all people. Because they offer so much product, it's typically hard for them to really commit to developing any one niche or market. I think as long as there are really quality niche sites that can build a presence and really commit to their content, they will find surfers who would much rather join their sites than some mega-site that might only have 3 scenes of the kind of content they are looking for. You just really have to cultivate your own product and make it your own so that it can't be found anywhere else.

Megasites do everything badly and nothing well... just like megastores. They sell you lots of poorly made crap for cheap prices.

For example, we just updated ceiling fans in our house. They were bought at Lowes and Home Depot. We had to return every single ceiling fan multiple times until we got ones that either worked properly, had all of the parts or didn't have damaged parts. Made in China. Thanks China.

    But they were cheap.

And do you wanna bet that they only run for a year before they break down?! The fans that were in the house originally had to be installed in the late 80's... ugly, but they worked.

Um Ken, thats the whole idea behind a 'mega site' they dont have to commit to one specific niche, they have everything inside

Question: did you buy the best and most expensive model one that they have to offer, their cheapest or that which showed/offered the best savings?

<stereotype>I'm Italian, so I've done my time in the construction industry</stereotype>, and I can say that they offer more or less the exact same product (manufacturers, quality etc) as the small-fries, but at a cheaper price (strength in numbers/buying power).
Yah sure, there are a few outlets that offer slightly more exclusive ware, but where are they when one needs to do a warranty return?
    Typically, they are 404.

As for mega-sites doing everything badly - I do not agree!
They are merely trying to offer a person a little from every niche.
It's like those taster/tester dishes at 'X' eatery.

Not for everybody - only for those that change their taste for things, as often as they change their boxers-briefs

Um, Lee, that was my point. That's why they don't typically draw those who are looking for content that is specifically created for their tastes, therefore they can't retain traffic from surfers who are looking for hardcore fisting content or what have you.

Lol, A lesson in gay stereotypes Paco...

I'm gay. We don't buy cheap to save money. We buy cheap only because that's what is easily available. They are beautiful (looking) name-brand fans. They were simply the best looking fans "the store had on the self".

Now a lesson in gay anti-stereotypes...

My partner, Toby, has worked construction/carpentry/etc. for most of his life. He is finishing a closet in our bathroom as I type this. And he is in the process of remodeling our entire house... and has been for the past 5 years

Toby is a gay man who can wear a tool belt and not look ironic.

NOPE! He is officially done with remodel work. Lol. He is only finishing our house because we can't afford to hire anyone. And since he is the one who tore everything apart 5 years ago... he gets to finish it.

5 years? A nd I am feeling guilty for not finishing the floors

we did hire some stooges to finish our bathroom though, my man for all his proclamations he's a manly man sure doesn't know how to put two tiles down

but even though it's nice to have someone run up and down the stairs, cutting tile and shit, i can't say i liked watching him wasting $3 tile because he didn't know how to cut it well

Funny thing though, we also bought fans from Lowes and they also turned out to be deffective, prolly that's why they sold them for $20
