I'm very uncomfortable with the idea of vaginas. They bother me in the way that spiders bother some people. Huskyhunks's Avatar

Loading music on page, good idea or bad ?

Sometimes I get annoyed to hell when someone loads loud obnoxious music on a page. Usually I'm surfing in the middle of the night and of course, it makes me jump out of my chair.

Other times it seems very appropriate, gets me all pumped up and ready to buy something.

Do you think it's always a good idea or always a bad idea or just do it the right way and you'll be fine ?

I honestly think the best way to do this is to have a clear symbol to turn music ON, but by default have it off. Its true that a lot of people do surf at night, and possibly when family/housemates are sleeping, and nobody wants to wake people up.

I also jumped out my bones when i first loaded a sponsor called BallerBucks or something.

Music on websites is the bane of my existence because I'm either surfing late at night or surfing at work when I'm supposed to be working. So I think it should always be turned off. :innocent:

i hate pages that have music on by default. it slows everything and annoys the hell out of me. there's no better way to make me leave a webpage - and it's not a good idea to bust surfers who are maybe not supposed to be surfing at work.

    I do so love music!

I am not too fond of sites that automatically stream/play music, for a few reasons:
    - I am already listening to tunes, on my system.
    - It can crash a busy system (one with low resources).
    - It is usually something I do not like (okay, this one is a selfish reason).

However, I do like it when a site offers music, which is ready to be played (currently "paused") with the mere push of a button (or tipped over triangle).

I love music, but not on a random website. problem is music is HIGH subjective. The music you put on a page that you are also trying to sell a product on could potentially turn a buyer off. i.e. they may not like the music their hearing. If a buyer wants music online they'll seek it out.

Hey now! Some of us have allowed our taste for tunes to evolve with the times! I use a computer, and other modern electronic devices, so I listen to ... modern music.

Just be glad they were not blaring some YEE_HAH kinda country[slash]western, retro[slash]dinosaur[slash]80's[slash]hairmetal rock, grab me a tissue I'm going to cry love ballads, or worse ... they're only "indie" 'cause they suck so badly kinda crap !

    Or much worse ... POPTOP40!

If so, I would have begged you to shoot me!

I love music on a site. It adds to the whole experience. Sometimes it can be too loud.

As long as there is the option to turn the music off, then I have no problem with it.

I would rather the option be IF I want to hear it. What about the surfers hiding from Wifey or Boss?

Well, my belief is that if you're not supposed to be surfing porn sites at work, then you shouldn't be. You should be getting back to the job you get paid to do. And if you have a wife and you're cruising gay porn, well, you deserve to be found out.

Should we honestly be encouraging people to do things they shouldn't be doing? Oh wait... this IS porn, after all... LOL <wink>
