What do you think of Holiday Galleries?

Hey guys, gals..

We're trying something new. Just want to see what your opinion is.

We just put up a new asianguys.com gallery for Halloween. It's the first
time we've done something holiday specific.... do you think it is a worth-while effort to keep up with holiday specific themes?

Here is the gallery we made for our affiliates.

IMHO,

Advantage: Holiday themes keep your content fresh and current and has a certain curiosity factor for your visitors e.g., I wonder what they are doing for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentines Day, Easter, etc. possibly increasing retention.

Disadvantage: Keeping up with the holidays. ;-)

Hit and miss.

I stay away from because I know many peeps get stressed during the festive times (jerkin the gherkin is supposed to release, not add to), as well I know not all celebrate the typical one due to the fact that most (holidays) are reserved to chrisitans/catholics.

However, there are enough out there whom want such.

I think it's a great idea for sponsors to have holiday themed material for the affiliates. As a blogger, anything I can find that "fits the season" is an especially nice way to "decorate" the site(s).

I luv holiday themed material! Keeps you fresh, gets holiday search traffic, increases sales during holiday periods, etc... :santa:

There are also a lot of non-religious holidays or change of seasons that can provide some creative ways to have fun with a theme (provided you have a mostly US audience):

1. New Years - what one could do with a champagne bottle?
2. Groundhog Day - could be a reach but don't photographers love working with shadows?
3. Valentines Day - chocolate (syrup)...enough said!
4. St. Patricks Day - gold coins, pot of gold, rainbow colors, gold or green cockrings, etc.
5. Spring break - beer, drinking, orgies.
6. Summer - sand, beaches, ocean, shells, etc.
7. Fourth of July - fireworks, firecrackers, american flag.
8. Autumn - leaves, horn of pleanty, out in the woods
9. Halloween - jack-o-lanterns, candy, costumes.
10. Winter - snow, snowmen, sauna's

If you were to include some of the religious ones you'd have something for just about every month.

But then again, I could just be talking out my...........

So far as holiday porn goes, the top two converting holidays for me over the last 8 years, when using specific 'themed' content have been Christmas and Valentines day, the other holidays really dont seem to have any significant increase in sales when using themed content or regular content.
