Skin colour with latino models ? info please!

Being a Brit, and growing up in the middle of nowhere i have little knowledge with racial profiling. I know in the states an average city has people from every racial and religious background, so most people there are more knowledgable.

    So, could somebody tell me.

How is is that some latino guys look semi-white, yet some look semi-black.
Are both these still classed as Latino in a niche sense, or not ? Or are very dark skined latino guys actually niches with "ebony models" ?

    Thanks in advance,

    Sam

"Latin" people cover the globe! They reside on Yurp, N & S America etc

Those with darker complexion are common to places like Cuba!

A good word/describer to use is 'olive'!

Well there's two reasons for that: skin tone from natural tanning ability, and skin tone from inheritance.

A lot of Latinos are actually Blatinos or Latalians... mixed with Black, Italian, White... whatever. So the lighter and darker skin complexions are from mixed backgrounds.

The other type deals with geographic location. American Latinos living in the Midwest (like myself) look very caucasian, compared with Cuban Latinos living in Miami, or Mexican Latinos in Southern Cali.

But I don't agree with the few sites that promote Latinos, yet when you look at the models, they may as well be 100% pure black except for the Puerto Rican flag wrapped on their head as a bandana. I think those deeply dark Latinos, who even sport the little curly black-type pubic hairs, should be on AA websites when it comes to promotion. If I were promoted as a Latino, I would probably fit in an Italian/European site because I don't look very Hispanic at times.

    An interesting question.

The answer really has to do with where their genes come from. Sort of like how British guys hail from the Anglo Saxons; they are caucasian and pasty white. However many Italians are also caucasian, but may have olive skin and decend from the Mediterranean, especially when you venture South.

And what you see today are all leftover legacies of the colonial New World.

"Blatinos" are Hispanics who are also part Black, and their heritage is traditionally from the Carribean. (Puerto Ricans, Dominacan guys) Some PR guys will have Black ancestors, others will outwardly just look more traditionally "Hispanic."

These people are here because we defeated Spain in the Spanish American War, and we kept those territories, including to this day the island of Puerto Rico. Over the years lots of Puerto Ricans sought a better life, freely immigrating to New York City after World War 2. (There is an excellent movie about this saga called West Side Story.)

That's the Blatinos and the Puerto Ricans.

Now as for typical Latinos: I think for your own purposes of knowing how to talk about these guys for a website, that's just the general coffee-skinned Hispanic.

Here's more detail though - If you are in border states like Arizona, California or Texas, the Hispanics typically do not have Black ancestors, their skin is coffee colored. However, many of these hispanics' outward differences can vary on whether their lineage includes Indians. Many guys, particularly with Mexican roots will look a higher degree of "Aztec."

If you see guys from Mexico who are pale skinned, then they potentially decend from Mexico's original conquorers, the Spanish, and their family line never mixed it up.

Obviously, I do not intend to invoke the racist views of whether someone's tainted ancestry places them in a better or worse class.

One last anthropological tidbit - I try to label models from Brazil on my site as Brazilian guys.... not as "latino." That country was colonized by the Portuguese, still their official language. Combined with the large subsequent German immigration, the indigenous Indians and the Blacks, I find that unique combination of heritage to create the hottest guys on the planet.

And if you watch the porn made in Brazil - you'll see wide variations of the models' skin colors. So on my site, I have categories for Latino, Blatino and Brazilian.

    I hope that helps.
