i woke up and some of the good guys had won!

i had been feeling pretty hopeless about this election so imagine my surprise when i woke up. arizona's gay marriage ban failed and nancy pelosi is now the majoriity leader, which means the democrats won and for the first time a woman is in an important elected federal position.

and there's some more hopeful things. not only are more governors now democrats, but Deval Patrick became the nation's only second ever black governor.

even though we're still stuck with ahnold for gov, i feel like i got an early christmas present.

    Still without hope...

I am glad things went well (or better for you.)

    In Colorado...we still have Musgrave...
We added a ban to same sex marriage to the Constitution...
We failed to pass a civil union law...

    Ugh.

Well Musgrave will not have a say, in anything with the DEMS in charge.
And after living in Colorado all my life, I did not give any hope in passing the civil union law in this hate state.
But times are changing here fast.

Yeah, I was very pleased. The only thing that marred this morning was hearing Arnold on the radio from his press conference saying "I love being in sequels".

    What a pud.

Colorado is changing politically. We now have a new democratic governor, standing senator, legislature, congresspersons like Pulmutter, but it always seems to come with a cost. The marriage amendment passed and partnerships failed. It was a mixed blessing for gay people but overall, it feels damn good to have the house and most likely the senate. I guess if I had to chose, I would have chosen this outcome.

One footnote: Denver failed big time in counting the vote and probably lost it's chance to host the Democratic National Convention. Too bad, it would have been great for the city.

Its odd to watch the US from outside the USA. If this was the UK and Tony Blairs party had taken the hamering the Republicans took, hed have to resign, but Bush is safe for another 2 years. I saw on the news last night that a third of Evangelicals had voted Democrat. Thats got to hurt! Its wonderfull to see America give Bush a bloody noise though.

    YAY!!!

I'm super geeked right now as well...

Michigan kept its current DEMOCRATIC governer... MRS. Jennifer Granholm!!!

And majority of Michigan is now democratic as well....

PLUS all the proposals I voted for turned out the way I wanted...

IT couldn't be better.... Hopefully the presidential election in two years will turn out this way as well!

    YAY!!!
