"Illegal" Terms in a site...

I have recently been told that I need to be carefull about one of my gallery sites: www.frat-hazing.com

The site features some photo-sets of frat boys being paddled, hazed, etc.

I was told that the term "hazing" is illegal in all 50 states, and that I need to be carefull using that on my site.

Has anyone else run into something like this before? Is this a legitimate concern?

The term hazing is illegal? That is hard to believe. The act of hazing may be illegal but I can't imagine that the word itself is illegal. What is this country coming to?

Well alot of stuff is illegal but if its role play i wouldnt worry about it.

Well, they certainly do get out of hand at my site! :whip:

My gut instinct tells me that what I was told was not correct, but I just wanted to know if anyother webmaster had been told the same thing. Obviously there are a lot of rape sites out there...so I would assume any crackdown would be on those first...but I like to play safe.

The *term* itself certainly isn't illegal, thanks to the first amendment. And depicting hazing can't be illegal either, or half the crappy teen-get-drunk movies like Porky's would be illegal.

Frat Boy initiation sites have been around for years, i remeber surfing for that in that late 90's.

Well, as I live in a college town....

Hazing laws make it a criminal act to intentionally force a registered student into harmful physical activity, intimidating physical activity or forced boozing in order to join a group in a public or private educational institution.

It's a misdemeanor. And it's also a misdemeanor if you know about it, but fail to report it. At least that's the law in Texas... and in between UT and A&M here, fraternities do have histories of hazings gone awry,

I don't see how movies about hazing could be the least bit illegal.... assuming that your content involves *actors* and not actual students who are actually trying to get into an actual school.

That's why on television you see car commericials of the new automobiles breaking speed limits, flying through the air, going cross country and other things you yourself can't do.... it doesn't make the television commercial "illegal."
