Do you have any stats on what percentage of surfers are capable of viewing 'actual' HD quality movies at the moment?

I must say im a big fan of HD movies, but the ability to view them in actual HD on the net right now is nearly impossible i thought, especially given download speeds etc.

i had no problem viewing the sample vids, and i have no special plugin or feature. the only issues i've ever heard of regarding HD is download time.

Sorry but we do not have stats on anything yet. They have been out for I think two hours now. I don't think that anyone will have issues streaming the videos. Most people are on cable or DSL now days anyways and would love to see better quality videos. :bananacock:

I think you are confusing something here. Just about any monitor sold these days has enough resolution to view HiDef. HD is merely a term to define pixel resolution of 1280x720 or greater. And as for download speeds, that is dependant on at what kbps the videos are encoded with. In theory, you could have a 1280x720 video encoded at 1000kbps that would play just fine on just about and DSL/cable connection. I may be wrong.

I was looking for stats on American high speed internet usage. I dont know how much weight to put on this but ive found 39% of urban dwellers have access to high speed internet.

HiDef is a mixture of resolution, playback quality and video signals / encoding, specifically, when talking about HD 'online' the movies should be encoded in a WMV format(i think ), that as of yet, a lot of surfers still dont have the plugin enabled because they dont understand they actually need it to view true HD quality movies 'online'.

In addition, for true 'Hi Definition' content, the content needs to be shot using a precise mix of lighting, HD camera equipment, audio quality, and editing quality amongst other things.

In effect, if the surfer doesnt have a WMV-HD player installed, all they are viewing is a 1280x720 resolution movie, which would look no different than a high quality mpg encoded at the same size

Lets not forget, HD was originally intended for use on TV's only and i havent been able to find a single computer monitor that is capable of 'HD Quality' playback so far as the progressive scanning goes either.

IMHO, not to degrade any of the work that SilverCash have done on these sites (which i really like the look of btw) but HD as of yet really is just a marketing point and the average porn surfer isnt going to know the difference between a high quality mpg and a HD movie, other than the download speeds LOL
