    Cool idea.

    One tip.
Your navigations look very "stock joomla".

Might want to get away from that, but aside joomla is amazing

Thats great. I wish you the best of luck with the whole thing.
You may find it useful to browse some of the big podcost hosts like itunes, libsyn ect, just a thought.

Yes, I host a podcast myself, and I m listed in just about every podcast listing directory out there. Libsyn is in fact my host. All those sites are great and I have got many good ideas about what I want from looking at them. But I must admit, I have decided to take QueerCasters.com in somewhat of a different direction. It was in fact the problems I saw with some of these directories is the main reason I decided to launch my site.

When I started my own podcast I began to tell my friends about it. I sent out about 100 emails to people I know. The response I got was shocking to me. "What is a podcast?" , "I don't have satellite radio." , "I don't have a iPod" , "I can't afford to subscribe to anything" , the list when on.

In fact about 90% of the mails I got back either didn't understand what I was talking about or misunderstood what a podcast was. Now these are mostly young gay men who are meant to be tech savvy, all clueless. With a estimated 25 to 35 million gay internet users, the highest rated gay podcast only pulls in about 20,000 listeners on average. That means the most popular gay podcast is only reaching less than 1% of the available market.

So I asked myself, why is this? When I went to podshow.com for the first time, I had to watch a 10 minuet flash movie just to figure out how to use the damn thing. And I'm a webmaster, I can't imagine how the average internet users responds to a site like that. Clearly not very good, or podcasting, which has been around for 2 years now, would be far more popular.

Queercasters is being designed to be as simple to use as it can be. Some of the advanced tools other sites have, we will be avoiding in a effort to make it user friendly and easy to search. I will be adding things to the site and tweaking the layout a bit, but for the most part it's not going to change all that much. My goal is not to compete with or imitate those other sites. My goal is to provide a simple tool that will bring the wonders of queercasting to the masses.

You have done your research. I have to say you are right about podcasts. When they first started i myself thought they required an ipod, but it wasnt untill i looked into it that i realised you could just download them to your computer and listen to them.

I think a bit part of the confussion surrounding podcasts is how ipods have been marketed themselves. Everyone knows what an ipod is, and everyone automatically puts "podcast" with "ipod".

I hope you manage to change the way people understand the whole thing, as it could be a very lucrative market for you!

Hey guys not trying to hijack your thread but looking more for advice.

I own www.gaysexpodcast.com (redirects to XonMobile at the moment)
and haven't really much idea what to do with it. I think the name is pretty hot but if any of you have a way for it to make serious money, let me know and I'll slice you in

    Cheers
    Dave

PS Also have onthegopodcast.com which may interest someone who's not looking to do just porn...weather, travel, news, sports....of course gay & straight porn can always be added too!
    Domain inventory sale.

humm, It's kind of hard to make money with podcasts because you really can't charge for them since most are free. Queercasters is free to use for both podcasters and people looking for them. As is all other directories like mine. The only money I will bring in is from selling off my banner space. You could build a nitch directory for gay adult podcasts and sell off banner space. But I don't know how successful that would be right at this moment. Very few gay porn sites have jumped on the podcasting bandwagon yet. When they realize the goldmine it can be for adult websites they will, but who knows when that will be.

Another route you could take is launch some type of gay porn podcast hosting service and insert ads at the start of the casts. But don't know how successful that would be since most adult sites have their own dedicated servers already. It's all uncharted territory you know.

Overall podcasts are free, and I don't see that ever changing. Ads are really the only way to go right now. I'm sure there is other things you could do with those domains, something I'm not thinking of. Sorry I can't be of more help.
