    Do birds really fly south?

OK so I am a little perplexed by my current surroundings…

For those of you that also live in sub-arctic climates half the year; I have a question for you… Have you noticed that more and more each year the birds and the animals aren’t operating by their “normal” habits?

Seriously this is the view from my balcony…

Now I can understand it in the summer time, but it is nearly December and it is really really cold here. Why haven’t they left for the south yet… aren’t birds supposed to do that??? I don’t know if they are simply adapting or if they are just getting “stupider”

Anyone else having the same thoughts or feelings?

some call it evolution, others ... well, who really cares about what the crackpot creationists think (not I).

-30 to -36 celcius and the birds are still doing their thing here (pissing me off @ 0530 hours, most mornings). I actually have not noticed any different behavior from the little peckers.

jebus kuhrist on two sticks - THAT is not cold! The water is still in its liquid state; there's no frost or snow and the grass is still green.

Oh, BTW: those Candian Geese did fly south, from Canada, where it is truly cold.

It's the END of the world as we know it.

Could the film Day After Tomorrow try to be telling us something?

Also I think I saw something similar in ID 4.

Aliens or Major Climate Change. You tell me.

    This is normal behavior.

I lived in Minnesota for most of my life (now in Texas) and goose hunting season ran all the way through November and into December. Those are Canadian geese flying south from Canada. This time of year is their normal time to migrate south. They are just passing through.

From the photos - I would say all the bread bits in the grass are the reason they stay

Thank you... I think so too... that is one of the reasons we chose this apt. Unfortunately they only had a 2nd floor available at the time... the 3rd floor ones have cathedral ceilings... *tear* But I soon got over that!
