Size DOES matter but there is such a thing as TOO big.

Wait, you said "ad" size, right??? ;-)

Hmmm, something that makes you just want to reach out and grab it, play with it, take it home and make it your own......

Something that is big enough that you just can't take your eyes off it, but not so big that it scares you....

Something that makes you tingle inside and smile outside....

It depends of the site layout also.

Go check out the biggest gay blogs. Imo, they seem to be setting the trend on banner sizes. And just my 2 cents, you can never have enough vertical banners and over-sized horizontal banners.

But also make banners in more traditional sizes. Although I think it's safe to say that 468x60 can finally be put to rest. Todays monitor resolutions make 468x60 banners nearly useless specks. If your going to do 468px wide, make them at least 80 pixels high

actually you gotta have 468x60 banners. many blogs, tgps, link lists and other sites have that size built into their pages.

All right. You win! I guess it's just my "wishful thinking" taking over. I just hate them so much. Lol. And I just don't think they are effective anymore... surfers see that size and shape and tune out.

i've used a very few good ones, but i never liked 468x60 banners as they are too short to really display anything. i remember how shocked i was years ago when i discovered those puny things were the default banner size.

I try to avoid the industry standard size when possible, because it gets blocked by some of those Norton plugins. Larger is better generally for me when it comes to banners (too).
