You do realize by 'gay' I mean a man who has sex with other men? IntenseCash.com's Avatar

I haven't noticed any drop. From my understanding they are just putting non porn sites before the ones with actual porn on them and it is only for certain keywords. I didn't really notice anything different when searching for gay terms.

i see a mix of porn and non porn listings for terms like fucking, but it's totally relevant and makes sense. and i've been seeing it for a long time - it's nothing new.

Don't panic, Google just seems to be going through through adjustments in their algorithm at the moment. When these updates are in process, the index is a mess.

And btw, anything you read on a forum called Black Hat SEO can't be trusted. If you implement any of their advice, you'll just end up in hot water with search engines. Most of their information is going to be based on the newest and best tricks, stuff that in six months will get you thrown out of Google.

That post mentioned a specific site -- pussy.org. Matt Cutts from google observed something about the site in question. http://www.wolf-howl.com/seo/is-goog...#comment-21973

(he was responding to someone elses post on this same thing.)

Google changes their algorithim, then we find out what that algorithim is, and we update our SEO. It's like the software copywrite protection game.

I haven't noticed a major difference. I'm actually getting a bit more Google traffic then before.

Well I have seen a change, but it didn't start last weekend. I can actually trace a significant change in Google to the last week in August. Since then I have been facing extremely hard times in keeping some of my positions in Google.

Of course, if all you are trying to do is get in the top ten for "pussy", you've always had your work cut out for you. This year many pornstars have finally jumped online and they are running blogs. And many more have set up MySpace profiles. Many other folks have started blogs about porn, which Google has oddly embraced for reasons I do not fully understand.

Furthermore, and this has been giving me fits, but someone somewhere has typed in amazing amounts of porn movie titles and star information into IMDB. No description or original writing, just the movie names, stars and a few credits. And let's not forget Wikipedia, which has a page devoted to just about any topic and celebrity.

This combination of events has made Google a complete mess in finding things. Personally I am exasperated because there are many porn stars about whom I have content rich pages, with unique keywordable content.... but in this Brave New World that Finnish guy writing the Roids and Rants blogs put up some pictures, a model name and maybe a generic "guys I'd fuck" quip, and Google slaps it on page one. (doesn't Google own Blogger too?)

Also, AEBN's branded movie theater MovieMonster, which has near zero written content, has somehow taken over Google's gay porn movie listings like Godzilla took over Tokyo.

So don't be surprised if when you try to blaze your pages into Google, you end up like Baby Godzilla blowing out those little insignificant smoke rings.

    Steve,

Google has been messing around with a number of things to try and combat the latest spammer techniques, and in the process, they've broken a number of other things. Don't fret too much about it, your pages are rich with content and it's original to your site. I have confidence that it'll eventually bounce back when they get things sorted out. It is frustrating though, I lost a lot of Google traffic in the last month. It's a pisser. But I just keep my head down and keep writing, it'll come back.
