    Making money off typo's

It seems like we are all victims from it. There is companies and individuals purchasing typos for all our domains and making money off of them. I went in and bought about every type I could but you never get them all. I have some people using the typos and forwarding them to my site. Which isn't the biggest deal but when it is one letter off from one of my domains it is irritating. I suggest everyone here spend the extra little bit of money and buy some common typos for your domains before someone else does.

So long as they are forwarding it to your site dont fret it.

Its when they start to forward those typo domains to other sponsors when you have to get nasty, just like we did a couple of years back with DILF

Actually a recent court ruling declared that making money off typos (domain name typos) was a cybersquatting violation and illegal.

I'd post a link but am at the airport on my blackberry right now hehe

So if anyone is doing that you have legal means to sue over it assuming they're in the US

If someone is intentionally using a typo to steal traffic from you for their own benefit, statutory damages are $1000 to $100,000 per domain name registered and possibly attorneys fees.

Well actually if they're taking a cut of the sale (say if they're an affiliate) it would be worth fretting. That's definitely not worthy of 50%

If its a letter of your domain thats not business like imo. The idea of affiliates is that we send our OWN traffic to you in return for a cut of the sales. This would make me angry as there stealing your traffic and reselling it back to you.

    That fraud in my view.

I would offer to buy the name off them for a small mark up, if they dont comply, call your lawyer!

(of course if there making next to nothing off it, then its not worth the hassle).

Did anyone read about utube.com thats getting millions of youtube.com's hits every month? Id fill that site with ads myself, there talking about sueing you tube .

I think their deal was they were struggling to pay their bandwidth bill because of all the traffic they're getting... and they are a family business that sells pipe or something so they don't want to covert the site to a traffic site...

Before my porn days, I was a software developer. I used to run the hockey office pool, and I signed up to a online pool tracking system. I email the whole company the link to it, but misspelled the URL. Turn out, an adult website purchased that misspelling and I ended up getting into mucho mucho trouble.

But now that I'm in the adult industry....
