Can you be an Affiliate AND a snob?

I’m looking through sets of “content” from affiliate programs and to be honest, I have no desire to push them after looking at some of the guys.

I know a lot of people push anything and everything because everyone has their own taste and may pop on the guy you find down right ugly, but… If I find the content below bar and not worth signing up to the site for, why should I push it?

Really? Even the exclusive content sites? Don't these sites usually offer affiliate content for their most recent updates?

Yeah, sometimes you have to stretch the truth a bit. Personally, I have trouble writing about or pushing guys that I can't find attractive in some way. But I'm getting better at it. But sometimes I just can't do it.

I think if a sponsor continually fails to impress you (or even turns ya off!) you definitely may want to give em a pass and look towards others to take their place.

I mean, sometimes you can try and look past it if they've performed well for you and you think it might just be an "off week" for them or something, and you want to keep consistent in promoting them and keeping your surfers aware of em. But if you're totally turned off by them, get rid of em! I think if you're enthusiastic about your sponsors that'll show to your surfers and help get ya sales.

I'm snobby when it comes to my main niche, but I think that's fine. It's my personal fetish and I think when I'm writing blog posts about sites with really good content in that niche my sincerity comes across. I just don't think I can sell a site with ugly guys (or at least guys that don't trip my personal triggers) or guys that in my opinion don't fit the niche at all, so I actually removed some affiliate links from my blogs the other day and have decided to just concentrate on the sites within the niche that I really love.

In fact, I think I'm going to have to get even snobbier since I've invested some time in some other niches in the straight market that I know something about it, but the sites and content don't do anything for me. I've made one straight sale since I started webmastering two months ago. I've made 27 gay sales (all within my main niche), which seems rather ironic since I'm straight myself. I'm a failure as a straight webmaster. Hah!

So now I'm really just going to sit back and think about what niches trip my trigger, find good-looking sites that feature them and promote them. Originally I had wanted to max out my efforts using as many of a single sponsors sites as possible to increase my payouts from a particular sponsor, but so far it is working out to be either too much effort or the wrong kinds of effort on my part because I just can't lie about how great I think their rubbishy looking content is LOL

Fortunately, I have many kinks so I should do okay. I just need to focus on what turns me on personally and hope that there's enough buyers out there that feel the same way I do.

You think writing about ugly guys is hard? Try writing about girls you'd love to fuck... when you're solely into guys.

I think you should always think about your customer and what they want to see.
    Its about them. Not you.

No store B&M or online will be around long if they dont have a broad range to look at.
It only works if you are in a niche.
You are a sales man and you should be able to sell the Pope a double bed or you are in the wrong biz.

That's just the thing though. If you are in a niche, you don't need to seel a broad range of things. And there's plenty of niche B&M stores that have been around for years. Walk down any boutique-lined street in any major city and you'll see stores selling just pens or just cigars or just hair accessories, or hell, just hair accessories for dogs LOL We don't all need to be Walmart.

Not every store needs to be everything to everybody and so obviously that is true of the salesperson as well. People make a big deal over the skill to sell people stuff that they don't need, but honestly I'd rather just sell stuff I can stand behind -- which probably sounds a bit ridiculous when we're talking about porn, but there's definitely good porn and crap porn. I'd rather sell people the good stuff. And its easier just to sell them what they want. I have no desire to be a used car dealer and I don't have the skills for that kind of action, but so far it doesn't appear to be holding me back.

If I was selling cars, I would have no issue with telling someone on the lot "Yeah, we sell ugly cars too"

Adult however is a "modeling" business. You are selling the look and the fantasy.

If you have a site with flawless guys and toss one with acne issues into the mix. You just killed your flawless set.

If I was pushing a popper sniffing, leather site with fisting and hardcore, the acne would be fine. Hell, a POW with nubs would be fine. (I have seen it and also seen the nubs used for nubbin someone in the ass.)

But it's not leather, it's not freak and it's not hardcore fetish. It's muscle, fitness, physique, college, athletic jock.

And with that I'm not about to push a guy I feel, falls below the bar. It's a high bar to begin with if you have a site that pushes it... Know your F'N content!
