Starting a Affiliate Program

As some of you guys might now I am getting set to do a soft open of my affiliate program in a few weeks. I just have a few questions running though me head right now about all this. I will list a few of them below, so if you would not mind helping me out I would really appreciate it.

I am going to use paycom’s new affiliate script created with MPA, that should provide superior stats/features for its affiliates than about anything around. I am just wondering, with this upgrade will existing affiliates with paycom have to rejoin your affiliate program to use these new features? I would really hate to launch a affiliate program and then 3 weeks later have to ask members to rejoin just to use all the features I can offer them.

Also what do most affiliates need/want to “test” a new program, as far as number of banners, do you really need FHG to test a site? And anything else you think you might need to test a program properly. BTW when I say test a program I am really just talking about sending like 3000 viewers over several weeks just to see how it works with your traffic.

I do of course have many more questions, and would love as much feed back as I can get about all this, but do not want to overwhelm you guys so I will just start off with these, I hope that will be ok :chicken:

your first question is definitely a question for rand.

as far as what is needed, some affiliates don't "test" a program at all - so those who use fpa's, fhg's or banners will need them or even if they sign up for your program, they won't be able to promote your site.

I guess I will contact Rand about that if he’s not around today or so. Just really hate to bother the guy, know he’s got lots to do now days as it is.

That’s weird, I work alone and granted I make most of this crap up, but I test all new sites like that, I just assumed everyone else did the same. I have 2-3 stages of “tests” for a new site before I make it what I call a “primary site”, but I will spare you by NOT going into all that.

Ya I guess it would be hard for some with out much of their own traffic (or that own a TGP) to promote a site with out FHG, but do you really think I need that for a soft open? I am sure I will offer banners from day one, but how many and what type are things I am not sure about.

If it turns out like that this will really help man, starting to sound like even at the most basic levels now days affiliates require FHG of some kind (I personally never use them). Ya I do not want to start a program that will really be no use to anyone, so if most people say they must have something I will have to put that in place before even starting.

Thanks, really glad you would care to even know about the new program, I can PM you or anyone else a site too look at, if you guys really want its just I do not want to burn it out yet, and I will be doing a big update on this site over the Xmass break so should result in a even better converting site for everyone.

All I would need is some promo content to share on a blog. Other than that, nothing I don't need FHG's, I don't need banners, myself. I need a good site for its niche, a leak-free tour for affiliates and a few pics to work with. That's about it

God I wish it was that easy with most affiliates, but I do understand most do not have such easy access to surfers.
