I was wondering myself when it would pop up on the internet.

Also I was amazed how fast they proceedet with the preparations for the execution and how much other countries (including mine) do condemn Saddam's execution and still remain quiet when regular people are shot, hung or get a lethal dose.
    :-D

Im stunned the video appeared on the net so quickly, we all knew it would at some point though.

A better quality version should be on its way, i heard it was sent to all tv networks but theyve decided not to show the full execution. Wont take long for an employee to make a copy and put it on the net.

Sorry but I refuse to watch this 2006 version of Faces of Death. I am really sensitive I guess about other peoples death, and regardless how much I may dislike them I think if I see their death it will haunt me for years to come. Yes I do LOVE horror films, but just like porn it is not reality

Sorry I know I must sound like a big pussy right about now, but I personally can not watch something like that. But I am not making a moral judgments on others that want to watch it, and am in favor of the death penalty when the evidence is 100% irrefutable. Just not something I care to ever see myself :worm:

    WTF?

I can't see much more than I've seen on TV ...
Well, it's good that a bloody dictator ended like that, it's a warning for other dictators or wannabe dictators in the future ...

I'm with you. I think it's disgusting to even offer to show such a thing to network television. I turn my head whenever they show execution scenes in movies. I just think there's no need to watch that. Why would anyone be entertained watching someone be put to death? Doesn't that say an awful lot about the culture we are living in?

I am ok with stuff like that in movies as long as its not real, I am all for artistic expression it’s just when it’s “reality” that I really do not want any part of it myself. I know this must sound like such a contradiction, but in my mind they are TOTALY different things.

The thing I saw on the news about all this that really disappointed me was all the taunting the executioners did really seems these people have no class or respect for life at all. :hmm:

For me, it depends. There's a difference between something stylized and comical like Kill Bill and that horrible execution scene in The Green Mile. Watching them shoot people in the head during Schindler's List? Forget about it. Can't deal with it. Some people might say that makes me a pussy; I'd much rather be a pussy than become de-sensitized to that kind of abhorrent violence. I'm certainly all for artistic expression as well; I just don't have to watch it. I'm perfectly happy turning my eyes away, though I do have to say that I think today's filmmakers (hello: Mel Gibson) take their depictions of violence a little too far. There's really no need to show it in such horrendous detail. I suppose it's to be expected, but it also really makes me angry how the MPAA punishes sexual content but doesn't bat an eye at somebody's head being blown off in gory detail. Makes no sense to me. But I"m getting a little off-topic, and my point is really that there are just some things that we don't need to see.

Ya we defiantly live in an insane world where 2 guys can beat the hell out each other in a ring, and Mel can go on a medieval rant and it’s call “family” entertainment, but if 2 guys kiss its shocking behavior.

As far a The Green Mile I have to say the execution scene was a really powerful indictment of the death penalty that just shows how shocking scene can be used to make a positive or political point.

I personally can not make to big of a stand against shocking content in film, if I did I would have to be the biggest hypocrite in the world. To shock or push the limits of things is really my style, and something I enjoy doing.

It's called hitting reload over and over. Not mega hits.

IE: A thread with high view - low reply looks like a shit thread to someone scanning a forum.

If I see a topic title that looks like something to read - the view count is 900+ with one or two replies - I can gather the content inside is off topic or not worth the time.
