When shooting content and selling content

    * This is assumed the content provider doesn’t use a content distributor *

If I shoot 10 sets and someone says they want to buy a set or two but need a week or two before they can pay for it, what is the standard to this situation?

Give them a week or two?

Have them put down a % of the cost?

Tell them it’s an exclusive set (if it is) and the first person with $ gets it.

    And

If you hold the set without payment, and it takes longer than a week or two, their loss?

If they put down a % and don’t get back to you within the time stated, their loss?

Someone else swoops in before they have the money, their loss?

It all comes down to personal business, ethics and the level of trust… But even the big companies can hose you if they think you’re just the new kid on the block who won’t be around or know how to keep a paper trail

First come, first serve. However, if it's someone you plan on doing a lot of business with, you may want to give them some special treatment. If it's someone you don't know or trust, take the money up front or at least make them pay a 50% deposit and hold the docs until you get paid in full.
