    About Blog Trades

When I see these pop up, I sometimes wonder if people click, read and evaluate the blog before posting "Added, now ad me"

If you simply want the link exchange experience of a blogroll, I guess that works but...

If you run a "twink blog" and someone offers a link trade with "Grandpa gets a diaper change blog", how does this help your traffic?

    Also,

Do you check the links on the offered link exchange to see who else they link to?

    heh...

Google goes far beyond the number of times a term appears on a page and examines all aspects of the page's content (and the content of the pages linking to it) to determine if it's a good match for your query.
    Maybe I'm just weird though

For me it's about branding. I want to get the Gay Porn Pig name everywhere and anywhere.

HDK Bill's woes with Epoch last week certainly raised the issue of checking out who you're linking to.

I do check the recipient blog out to see if they've got guys on their posts who are too young - that always makes me a little uncomfortable. But I don't care whether the blog is exclusively black, bear, twink, or whatever.

I have just gone through my blogroll and re-checked everyone. I did dump about four links because they seemed to have dropped mine. In a few other cases I cleaned up some links that hadn't been working. I notice that quite a few people still have Goldie's Blog linked in their blogrolls.

    Cheers

I pretty much initially trade out with others I know on a new blog and yes, I do go look at the site and check who they're promoting.

Lot of link lists are just now catching on that they need to add blogs as a free site submission category, and finding good ones that take a gay blog is still a bit murky, and many don't understand what a feedlist is about, so trading amongst other bloggers is pretty much your only initial way of getting some traffic moving around.

As to what I promote vs what they promote niche wise ... you never know what will perk some interest. I view my blogroll like an assorted niche moneybar ... if they didn't buy my main product, maybe they'll like something else they see offered.

If I know you, I'll link you. My blog is mixed and I can always make a new catagory.

I debated adding BDSM Orgs, knowing I wouldn't have the time to smooze link backs ... but that link catagory has boosted my SEO hits so well, I'll add it to all my blogs.

And yes, I check to see who I'm linking with. I also check weekly, which blog is sending me the most traffic, and drop a comment on their blog as a small ty.

This is why I do not run a blog, or message board, and anything that I would have to monitor CP on. I run twink sites I learned a long time ago the two do not mix well. Or should I say in a way I want to be apart of. I may twist content a bit, and use people some find issue with but I know ALL of the guys are legal at least.
